A Break In Belgrade, Serbia

I was back on annual leave once more but it was slightly different as I had leave with my best friend Grace! We both wanted to tick off somewhere new and where we could go in regards to vaccine, testing and quarantine requirements and what wasn’t going to effect our rosters when we got back to Dubai. After HOURS of research and looking into our options from Dubai, we decided to spend a couple of nights in Belgrade before we spent the main portion of our holiday elsewhere. Leaving Dubai at 09:05 we flew with our sister airline Fly Dubai over to Serbia’s capital city Belgrade. Landing around lu ..read more

Time for another layover where I can leave the hotel and I woke up so excited for work for this trip. It’s such a wonderful feeling to be falling in love with the job all over again. After eighteen months of missing layovers and all the amazing perks of the job, that 5am alarm didn’t even bother me. So travelling the fourteen hours and fifty minutes across the globe, we landed into O’Hare International Airport in Chicago just before 3pm. I quickly changed and got ready to meet one of my best friends Katie! It had been SO long since we last saw each other when she came to visit me back in Dubai ..read more

Playing catch up with all my posts so here’s another roster update and its a month that no crew member really enjoys… In August I shall be heading to: BHX – Birmingham, UK Layover Reserve Beginning the month was a trip to Birmingham in the UK. I originally had a two day layover in Manila and you’re not even allowed to leave the hotel room there. So I sent out a multitude of swaps for anything and everything and I was so pleasantly surprised to see a swap accepted for Birmingham. Sadly we can’t leave the hotel in the UK but what I could get was an ASDA shop delivery. I miss my UK food shops SO ..read more

Finally it might be time to start doing individual roster posts which is a great sign really, isn’t it? There are still a lot of changes to rosters even after we receive them, but I’m definitely flying a lot more. We have more destinations where we are allowed to leave the hotel now too, so its an amazing feeling to think we’re going in the right direction. There was also the amazing news this week that the UK has taken the UAE off their red list so it means no more mandatory hotel quarantine for 10 nights with the hefty cost of £2,000. I might finally be able to get home and see all my family ..read more

Another destination I was able to visit and leave the hotel was to Los Angeles, USA. I’ve been to LA before and its not a destination I overly love. I originally had a trip to Washington DC for a twenty four hour layover, but someone sent me this swap for a forty eight hour layover in LA so I happily accepted as it gave me a few more flying hours and a bit more rest after that long sixteen and a half hour flight over! We left Dubai at 08:55am landing into LAX Airport at 14:15. When we got to the hotel I was so exhausted, so I ordered some Chipotle for dinner, my favourite when I’m in the US an ..read more

A Little Bit Of Normality With Copenhagen

Finally time for some form of normality. Certain destinations we are allowed to venture out of the hotel and I was blessed enough to receive Copenhagen, Denmark on my May roster (sorry for such a delay in this post) and I couldn’t wait to breathe in some fresh air after a flight and just have a real reminder of the perks of this job! We departed Dubai at 08:20am with a lovely six hours and fifty five minutes over to Copenhagen. The weather was forecast to be sunny, yet cool and crisp – my all time favourite weather. I was so beyond ready to escape the heat of Dubai and stroll around in a much ..read more

I haven’t really found the need to write these posts as no matter where I fly there’s not been any difference with what I can and can’t do. But with limitations being lifted slightly, I thought I would give you an update into the first half of the year. I honestly can’t believe its a whole six months to update you on but here we go! So far and to finish of June this is where we’re at… JANUARY DMM – Dammam, Saudi Arabia Turn Around LHR – London Heathrow, UK Layover LAX – Los Angeles, USA Layover FEBRUARY TUN – Tunis, Tunisia Layover MAA – Chennai, India Turn Around Normal Annual Leave MARCH KHI ..read more

Hello, and MANY apologies for the sheer lack of posts. I’ve actually not posted once in 2021 but if I’m honest, with everything going on and not being allowed to leave our hotels at all I’ve felt very uninspired and demotivated to post. Most of the time our rosters haven’t been what I have received with a lot of cancellations and changes so I just felt I would post when there was a positive change and something actually interesting to write about. Anyway, things have started to take a turn for the better (work wise) and I have a few things to finally share! Back in March I was given twenty day ..read more

Hey everyone! I can’t believe it’s been over two months since I posted and that this will be (potentially and most probably) the last post of 2020. What a weird old year this year has been, hey? I hate to wish time away, especially when there’s nothing really that I’m counting down for, but I think I speak on behalf of most people when I say I can’t wait to this year be over and done with. Now I know that COVID-19 isn’t just going to disappear when the clock strikes midnight and we enter the new year, but I think this has just been a very hard year for most people mainly emotionally and financ ..read more

Another month has passed by with nothing to write about. My job has changed hugely with the effects of COVID-19 and I’m longing more than ever for some normality and exploration. I’m unsure when my job will ever return to its normal self, or if it ever will. But for the moment, I am happy to still have a job and be healthy and well. Anyway, in October I shall be going to… KUL – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Layover CAN – Guanghzou, China Turn Around KBL – Kabul, Afghanistan Turn Around DEL – Delhi, India Turn Around Kicking off the month is my one and only layover in Kuala Lumpur. I’ve only visited K ..read more
