A teacher was recently hired at a Back2Back partnering children’s home in Mexico to provide additional educational support for the children who live there. Over 90% of them faced significant educational deficiencies, and staff wanted to provide as much assistance as they could, allowing progress to occur. For young women in Mexico and of Mexican descent, turning 15 is a momentous and highly honored occasion. A quinceanera is a night every young girl looks forward to – a party held to honor her transition into womanhood, surrounded by her closest family and friends. Lisa and Rick Bursey have a dream. They’re in a large room with a group of people, each one with a story unique from the others. For over 25 years, Back2Back Ministries has held their hands open as an organization. Our Back2Back Linares site in Mexico is undergoing a makeover. It has been home to Possibilities House, a residential children’s home for up to 12 kids and their caregivers over the last nine years. Staff at the home have welcomed families, witnessed first generation graduations, facilitated space and care for healing, and in this new season, they are growing! It was 2010, and Matt and Julie Cooper, long-time friends and staff members, joined us in Cancun to explore the possibility of a new site. Haiti and her people continue to persevere despite ongoing turmoil across the country. Back2Back staff eagerly pursue special activities or moments to hold space for the children and families they serve. Dirt paths wind from nearby villages to an area surrounded by black rocks- a God-crafted jungle gym. Within those rocks sits an educational oasis providing comfort, access, safe adults, snacks, and support.
