Severe stress plagued me since my teenage years. A combination of factors fueled the fire: loneliness, a lack of friends, an abusive environment, and indirect bullying from classmates. These experiences turned me into a withdrawn person with social phobia and stuttering. Intrusive thoughts about death and illness, fueled by the loss of two relatives in a short period, further intensified my anxiety. One day, the pressure reached a breaking point. I started experiencing convulsions and muscle contractions during sleep. My pent-up emotions, tension, and anger surfaced at night. My immunity weak ..read more

When there is no immediate physical danger or acute physical pain, time comes in to deal with any situation, imagination comes in to deal with any situation. You are okay at the moment, however intimidated, threatened psychologically you are feeling, how much apprehensions your mind is throwing – you have an option to imagine good, what you like or to raise complaints. In fact, not to raise complaints is automatic attunement to good, to new. We under the illusion, think as if psychological threat is to be numbed or escaped. Hence energy is dissipated. To bear psychological threat, is mindfuln ..read more

Hello everyone, I have been practicing mindfulness meditation for some time now and have already had some success. It's already helping me a lot. However, I have noticed that I do it best when I close my eyes. I have anxiety at times and then also struggle with derealization. When I practise mindfulness with my eyes open, I sometimes get anxious because it reminds me of derealization. When I experience derealizing, everything also seems very unreal and surreal to me, as if I'm seeing or hearing things for the first time, - but accompanied by a feeling of strong anxiety. Sometimes I have the f ..read more

I’ve been trying mindfulness meditation at my therapist’s suggestion, but I’ve found that every time I try to meditate I feel worse. My chest feels tight and I’m overcome with a sense of anxiety and fear that lingers until I stop meditating. What am I doing wrong? I want to do mindfulness correctly, why am I feeling like this? submitted by /u/Gummy_Waffles [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Mindfulness books with genuine authors?

I've been researching a lot about mindfulness recently and have been trying to find books that will help me let things go and to stop worrying so much. It's difficult for me to follow an authors teachings when they don't seem completely genuine though. I'm not exactly sure how to describe it, but a lot of the books I've read just seem off to me or like they're trying to sell me something? So far I really like Thich Nhat Hanh's books and am currently reading "no mud no lotus". I really like the message in Michael Singer's untethered soul and it seems to be the type of book I'm looking for, but ..read more
