Swiis Foster Care Scotland have dedicated a prestigious national award success to the “Amazingly devoted carers and inspirational children and young people of Swiis” who inspire their acclaimed service.
The family-run fostering agency celebrated after being announced as winners of the Scottish Social Services Awards for Excellence in Children’s Services in a ceremony at the Glasgow Science Centre on 23rd November 2023.

Kind-hearted businessman David Duff is aiming to get young people in foster care hooked on angling – so they never feel like a fish out of water.
David teamed up with Swiis Foster Care Scotland to throw open the doors to his picturesque Ledyatt Fishery to a group of foster carers and young people so they could sample the delights of outdoor pursuits.
It was a move inspired by his own memories of foster care as a youngster when he says there was not enough support to equip him with the skills and knowledge to transition from a life in care to living independently.

Judo started out as an energy outlet and hobby for Sean but after 12 years of dedication, Sean found himself representing Great Britain at the June 2023 Special Olympics World Games in Berlin, and in an incredible match, Sean secured his big win.
20-year-old Sean lives in Scotland with his foster siblings and his Foster Carers, Adam and Lucy. Sean joined Adam and Lucy’s family early into their Swiis fostering journey 13 years ago and it was seeing his other foster siblings training in Judo that encouraged Sean to try the martial art for the first time 12 years ago.

Four years ago, Hayley had never even seen a squirrel in-person before, let alone sheep, but now incredibly she is training to become a shepherdess with two of her own sheep.
Hayley lives in Scotland with her brother and Swiis foster carers Allison and Ron. Prior to moving to a small village in the countryside to live with Alison and Ron, Hayley had never spent much time in the countryside, but all that changed when Hayley took part in the ‘Estates that Educate’ Programme.

Veganuary is an annual challenge run by a UK non-profit organisation which inspires people every January to avoid any products derived from animals, such as beef, fish, cheese or eggs.
Over 629,000 people took part in Veganuary in 2022, and the two million total past participants are estimated to have spared the lives of 6.7 million animals and saved 207,680 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere. Oxford University research suggests that a vegan diet can also reduce food costs by up to one third.

In Britain it is estimated that 1 in 7 people are neurodiverse, with 90% of disabilities being invisible.
Neurodiversity it is an integral part of human diversity and is an umbrella term which includes people who have dyslexia, dyspraxia (DCD), dyscalculia, Autism and ADHD.
