This is a Pembleton Brooklands, if you’ve never seen one before then I can relate, as up until a couple of days ago neither had I. In short, the Brooklands is a modern cyclecar with classic design cues powered by the unstoppable Citroën 2CV engine. Incredibly the Pembleton Brooklands weighs in at just 400 kgs or 882 lbs, that’s with a tank of fuel, oil in the sump, and fluid in the brake lines. It may be the second lightest car we’ve ever featured on Silodrome, being beaten out only just by the Light Car Company “Rocket” which weighs 385 kgs (850 lbs). This is a coffee table made from the engine block of a Porsche 930, the legendary first-generation of the turbocharged Porsche 911. The table features a glass top with the word “widowmaker” engraved around the surface of the outer rim. The turbocharged Porsche 930 debuted in 1975. It was officially given the green light for production in order to homologate turbocharged race cars like the Porsche 934 and Porsche 935, however the 930 would soon become a best-seller in its own right. Period advertising for the Porsche 930, and for the rest of the Porsche model range, became legendary in the 197 ..read more

This 1988 Land Rover Defender 90 has been subjected to an electric vehicle conversion, for the not-insignificant price of £43,000 or approximately $54,700 USD. The work was carried out in 2021 by the specialists at London Electric Cars (LEC). When classic vehicles like the Defender are converted to electric there will always be those who decry the conversion as heresy. I tend to think the conversions are fine, often interesting, and so long as no truly rare or sacred vehicles are modified I don’t see the harm. This is a 1961 Bedford Dormobile Camper, it’s one of relatively few surviving originals based on a British Bedford CA van with a camper conversion done by coachbuilder Martin Walter of Folkestone in Kent, England. The campers based on the VW Type 2 Bus are by far the most famous from this era, but in England the Bedford Dormobile was an incredibly common sight at campgrounds in the 1950s and 1960s. Celebrated author Anthony Burgess (Clockwork Orange) owned a Dormobile and along with his wife drove it across Western Europe in the 1960s. The Ferrari 156 F1 was developed to meet the then-new F1 regulations that reduced engine capacity from 2.5 liters down to 1.5.
