As I sit in my impeccably organized home office (and by impeccably organized I mean messy), sipping on a freshly brewed cup of coffee, I can't help but reflect on the journey that brought me here. You see, I've always been a successful person. A high-achiever, a go-getter, a Type-A personality, call it what you will. But little did I know that my penchant for success would also come with a hidden side effect: overthinking. Ah, overthinking. The art of over-analyzing, over-worrying, and over-complicating even the simplest of tasks. It's like a relentless mental loop that plays in my head on re ..read more

Rollercoasters, Vomit and Ballerinas

I have to vomit on rollercoasters. Especially those ones that spin around in circles really fast. I must admit, it has been brought to my attention that I’m uncool with my kids because anytime we have ever gone to an amusement park my poor children have to go by themselves. “I’ll sit this one out, guys,” I say. (And this one, and this one, and this one, if you get my drift) I much prefer to watch. Take pictures of their excited little faces as they get strapped in to that torture chamber – uh.. I mean that seat. But me? Nah I’m good. I’ll be over here while you get slung around and around in ..read more

(This blog post today is not my usual tongue-in-cheek post; it’s heartfelt and I hope it helps whomever needs to read this today. Please DM me or Email me, or comment if it does.) Have you ever been hurt by someone you loved and trusted? Have you ever been lied to? Have you ever had someone tell you something and then you find out later that they were completely lying? Isn’t that a terrible, gut-wrenching feeling? It’s heartbreaking. In fact, it is SOULbreaking, to be honest. What’s worse, you suddenly don’t trust yourself. You wonder about your own judgment, and whether you could have seen si ..read more

Greetings, kingdom. It is I, the Start Over Queen, here to bless your day with some more wild wisdom from the small, mindful corners of this blog. Alright, I never said I was very eloquent, did I? Still, I truly AM the Start Over Queen. I’ve rebooted more times than my clunky old Dell laptop. I used to really doubt myself for having to start over and over again in my life. And admittedly, sometimes I still feel that way. Yet, I mostly feel proud. I’m proud that I always had the courage to correct course if I felt like it wasn’t going well. Let me rewind a bit for comprehension. Ever since I wa ..read more

I have placed sanctions against myself. Yes, you read that correctly. What sanctions? I am no longer allowed to purchase online training or nonfiction books. I have spent so much money on training and books in the past couple of years, that I could rent an Italian villa for three weeks with the money I’ve spent. I’ve just been thinking about this lately. I keep buying these trainings and noticing how it actually stresses me out each time. It stresses me out because I know that I will neither have time to finish the training nor will I even START them! And yet, I continue to buy them. I have be ..read more

What do Italian, Chaos and Compassion Have in Common?

I’ve always wanted to learn Italian. I LOVE that language. In fact, one night, while sitting on my couch live streaming an NFL game from the comfort of my own (German) apartment, I scrolled through my App Store, tapped on the app, paid with my PayPal app, and thirty seconds later I was practicing saying “Buongiorno” and quizzing myself on basic vocabulary involved in cooking pasta. I was well on my way to learning italiano, all within a matter of seconds. “Can you speak Italian now?” you might ask. Well, here’s the thing. No. I got a notification every single day at 7pm. It had a nice cheery ..read more
