In the fall of 2021 MSPSP started using a sportsmanship rating system that referees use post match to report good and bad team behavior. The rating criteria is quite stringent and only two teams per year, one girls team and one boys team, are chosen as Premier Sportsmanship teams from MSPSP’s 700 teams.
PASS FC 2009 Boys had outstanding sportsmanship this past year based on their ratings and in comments left by referees and even an opponent! This team’s players, parents, and staff have all demonstrated the qualities that make them excellent recipients of this honor!

Book Recommendation from Mark VanSlooten:
Mindset by Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D.
Used by a number of professional and college sports teams, the basis of the book is to instill a Growth Mindset as opposed to a Fixed Mindset. Mark was first introduced to this book at a Notre Dame Coaching seminar and again at a Coerver Licensing workshop several years ago. He was reintroduced to it at a USYSA National Youth License course he recently attended and felt it warranted a mention to our club parents to help them bring the best out in their kids. PASS FC Coach Marlon Bykerk went to Guatemala.
I would like to say THANK YOU to a couple of my teams for donating their jerseys. These kids and families were so thankful!
We spent the week working with an organization called Manos de Jesus. We built a house for a family and also installed a working bathroom for another. We were also able to visit families that my family helps sponsor. With the sponsorship program these families are able to receive food baskets, pay for school and some are able to start there own business for a steady income ..read more

Congratulations to Jason Wingard and TJ VanSlooten, two PASS coaches who have recently earned their C Licenses!
The roughly 4 month course includes 2 in-person sessions separated by 6-8 weeks of assignments and mentoring, virtual sessions, and one-on-one or one-on-two meetings with the instructor. Course instruction includes coaching training sessions, coaching games, leading the player, leading the team, managing the performance environment, and more.
