There are a lot of misconceptions around 1 minute short films. It’s too short to fit in a good story. It’s way too short to be professional. Can a 1 minute short even win awards? So to answer these questions I have made my own 1 minute short film and today I am heading to […]

You might have seen filmmakers joining a 48 hours film project, which is a contest where you work with a team to make a short film within 48 hours, from writing to filming and editing to a finished short film. I have worked on many 48 hours film projects, also tried my hands on joining […]

Notice a stupid trend happening with filmmakers adding random quotes on their movie / film posters, while the filmmakers haven’t made an actual achievement with their feature or short film on film festivals getting festival selections or awards or proper review from reputable sources. They add a random quote with stars, that act like a […]

You might have heard Tarantino saying: “It’s not your job to create a vision, but it’s your job to have a vision”. The vision Tarantino is talking about is a director’s vision. It might sound like a stuck up term and especially when websites state it is a Director perspective of unique interpretations of a […]

Recently we’ve been notified Panasonic was granted a patent for a Boxy cam design that included a flippy screen. If this becomes a real product Panasonic will be the 1st compact box camera with a built- in flip monitor.
Let’s look at the design and see what we might expect with this new camera. Though the design is very similar to the Panasonic BGH1 and BS1H, the major difference is on the back of the camera. They removed the large battery plate and now have a screen that is noticeably able to flip out. A lot of filmmakers have been requesting a flip out screen on a boxy camera for a while an ..read more

Last few years I helped out a lot of student films and also went to film screenings which included student films and noticed a lot of similarities or cliches. To be honest I also suffered from these cliches before, until I saw so many student films including the same things and learned to avoid these cliches and it improved the short films I was working on by removing these cliche scenes.
Waking up in bed
Many student films open with someone or two people waking up in the bed, however it has become such a cliche opening or scene that it is better to avoid than to include. As most of the ..read more

This is the Baofeng F22 walkie talkie is honestly the best bang for buck walkie talkie you can purchase for on film set use. Baofeng F22 cost just 20 bucks for one pair, so I bought two pairs which is enough for the camera team.
What really attracted me the most with the Baofeng F22 is that you can use professional headsets with a kenwood plug and it recharges via USB-C.
It even has a built-in torch when filming at dark locations. But the main thing is the communication of the walkie talkie itself.
The distance the Baofeng F22 should be able to communicate is around 1 to 1.5km. On set ..read more
