Zombie Respiration Explained! (Maybe)

Feel free to point out my mistakes, ask questions, and provide suggestions, but please take the time to read this before you do so for context! Remember how I made a post asking how zombies would breathe without using their lungs? I might have figured it out by now! Guys hear me out on this (or not)... Somebody suggested to me before that the zombifying organism could just grow a layer of respiratory cells on the surface of the host skin to absorb oxygen from the environment, but I had dismissed their theory back then. Now that I think on it I believe it could actually make sense! As previous ..read more

Shortest time it would take for someone to become a zombie?

In most "viral fast zombie" scenarios (think 28 Days Later), people turn into zombies when the virus enters the bloodstream, infects the brain, and multiplies rapidly, damaging the brain in the process. The virus would also infect the saliva glands and replicate there too so the infection can be spread through bites. Let's assume Bob here, a totally average man in his 30s, gets bitten on his upper arm by a zombie. If we're basing this off of what we know about real-life virology, what would be the minimum time it would take for him to fully succumb to the virus? Let's assume that the virus is ..read more

How do zombies have the strength to overpower people and tear them apart?

In Jonathan Maberry's zombie books, the infection is a parasite that slows vital functions to the point where the victim would be considered medically dead. The parasites then disconnect higher brain functions from the rest of the body, leaving only the most basic ones (walking, grabbing, eating) for them to control. The host will then revive and look for new potential victims to feed on and infect. According to this explanation, zombies do have some respiration and circulation, but it's only barely enough for powering the zombie to continue spreading the disease. However, the zombies in the ..read more

Would patient zero be charged with aggression?

This question applies to any variant. Of course authorities may have been called. Patient zero would likely be admitted to a hospital, presumably quarantined. Possibly began ravaging the Emergency room personnel that were unlucky enough to be in the same room as him as they turned/after they turned. Would patient zero be charged with murder or aggression? If Patient Zero were to exhibit aggressive behavior towards emergency or hospital personnel before the nature of the outbreak is understood, they might be treated as any other violent individual. What are the real life protocals of hospitals ..read more

Is it me or everyone thinks that the coolest scene in a zombie movie is when a few soilders are cornered some where and zombies start coming. At first they only shoot a few bullets but there is more of them and they cant even aim propely they just shoot out entire mag's at them. They have to retreat but there is only wall behind them. Its kinda sad and cool at the same time. submitted by /u/LordLevi56 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Scenario: You’ve taken refuge in a cabin, and one sunny afternoon, your peace is disturbed by the screams of the helpless. You rush outside with a seven-shot handgun in its holster and a shovel in-hand and see a man running for his life. About a dozen zombies are on his tail. You go for your handgun when you spot the blood soaked through his pant leg and shirt sleeve. Now, you’re hesitating. Could he be bitten? You only have the mag in your gun, no other ammo, and you surely can’t take on all the zeds with your shovel… What do you do? submitted by /u/brisualso [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
