For many years, we shared our home with from four to six women with developmental disabilities. They were a part of our family and participated in most of what we did at home.
The biggest and I think most interesting event was my mother's 80th birthday party. We invited lots of people, mostly relatives, however she invited one woman who she'd gone to grammar school with in Bakersfield--and she came! We had 100 plus people here that day, the majority relatives who came from near and far.
Of course they wouldn't fit in our house. We borrowed tables and chairs from church and set th ..read more

For some reason I started thinking about all the homes I've lived in--a few new, mostly old.
My first five years were in a home owned by my grandparents in South Pasadena, CA. It was during the depression and my dad didn't have a job. Myy grandfather worked for the railroad and had another home. This was a fairly new house at the time. .
My dad became employed as a plumber and my parents bought a new two-bedroom one baht home in Los Angeles in a part conisdered to be Eagle Rock but closer to Glendale. I lived here all grammar school and high school. It was a great home. My sister and I s ..read more

We live in the foothills of the Central Valley--one of the places having an unusual amount of rain. Some folks are having a really hard time--15 have died, including a 5 year old during an attempted rescue and was washed away. Some towns are completely flooded, Mud slides have closed many roads, even major arteries.
We live high above the river that runs down and evntually emties into a lake--which is now full. Some folks who live in the higher elevations are closed off because of road closures. Two bridges that connect folks who live across the river are impassable. There is another wa ..read more

Back row--Lori, Dana,Lisa, Matthew. Front, Hubby and me
I've been sick since before Thanksgiving. Two kind of prescribed antibiotics did not help me. I struggled with coughing and a very runny nose. I hate being sick so tried to continue on as always, but spent a lot of time on the couch.
I didn't go teach Sunday School or go to church one Sunday, the next I taught Sunday School but it wasn't easy--and I didn't stay for chruch. I began to feel a tad better and resumed my usual schedule, but still wasn't well.

How do I judge?
Not just by the number of books downloaded, but by how many other books in the series are purchased after wards.
The first book in the series, DEADLY OMEN was the most that people bought. Though getting books on Kindle is most popular, a few books were ought in paperback.
Plus, book in my other series have bben purchased as well.
And, my cookbook, COOKING FOR A BIG FAMILY AND A CROWD, continues to be a popular item for Kindle and in paper.
Will I do it again? Of course, it's too much fun not to.
However, I'd like to finish the Tempe Crabtree book I'm wor ..read more

People often ask why give-away a book?
The reason is to get those who download it to purchase other books in the series. So here is what has happened so far:
During the five days RAGING WATER was free, it was downloaded 2,602 times.
It was #1 in Native American literature during this time.
The #1 book in the series: DEADLY OMEN was purchased by 15 readers. (That really isn't the first book in the series, DEADLY TRAIL is, but it's in Amazon as #0.)
The other isn the series purchased were:
NOT AS IT SEEMS, 3 copies
SPIRIT SHAPES, 3 copies
Two copies of the following were ..read more

And here's a great review of RAGING WATER:
"I'm not so sure Tempe Crabtree was not--in another life--a daughter of mine. (Though, so far as I know, I haven't an ounce of American Indian blood in me.) Throughout this series, written by Marilyn Meredith, I have come to think I know Tempe very well, and to care about her. Isn't it nice, if I want to claim her as kin, that she is so intelligent, so compassionate and loving, and such an interesting person? I know, I know, she's not perfect, but wouldn't she be boring if she were?
Of course, as a deputy sheriff in Bear Creek ..read more

One of the major characters in RAGING WATER is based on a friend of mine who asked to be put in one of my books.
We had a bit celebration for the promotion of the book (this wasn't it, but I had this photo.) We met at the then Springville Inn--which appears just as the Inn inmost of the Deputy Temep Crabtree mysteries.
I served a cake that was decoarted like the cover.
I talked about the story and sold books.
Later, freaders told me that I'd captured my friends personality. Since then, she's been in a coupe more books--and is a star in the one I'm writing now.
