I had the preschool teacher from hell.   Do you have teachers you know you need to fire during the pandemic?   If yes, continue to read and not make the same mistake I did.   In the last email, I told you about my BEST teacher, Ms. Orr. Unfortunately, she is no longer working with me, therefore I hired this lady. Her name is Ms. (Not Gonna Call Her Name), and she is a woman who throws a rock and hides her hand. Do you know of them kind?   I have gotten several signs that I needed to let her go. The first sign happened during an office ..read more

Between starting Akeba Academy and learning from my errors in management it was 50 plus people later that I realized that I needed to grow more and learn how to manage problem employees. I’ve had many people quit on me in my time as a boss and some people might have resigned, but this lady just quit. And not only did they quit but they would go and work at another daycare. So why did they quit? It was really ME. I didn’t develop people skills. Here is why she quit on me, I know how to be an entrepreneur, but I didn’t know to treat people. I lost out on building a reputable company. This Super ..read more

Are you looking to have a faithful team? If yes, keep reading. When I opened up Akeba Academy, my right-hand help came to Akeba to help me. Her name was Ms. Roundtree. She was very faithful and I have been training her to help me run my office. Once I got the school open I realized it was way bigger than my family home. So she felt lost when she got there because I didn’t keep my word and not explain to her that I chose someone else to help me run the facility because they had more experience than her. WRONG MOVE. Never promise someone a position and not follow thru. Pay close attention to re ..read more

Need Help Avoiding Mistakes With Preschool Teachers? If yes, keep reading. Please don’t make the same mistakes I’ve made. So I hired this fantastic teacher, Ms. Orr. At the time, I had a lack mentality, and because of my lack mentality, I did not follow through with what I said I was going to do with her. She agreed to start working with me at $10/hr, now this was about ten years ago, and with that agreement, I would increase her salary over time. Something happened in my business where I didn’t have all the money to increase her salary. And here’s where we ALL GO WRONG! Mistakes Like This WI ..read more

Ready To Hire Your Next BEST Director? Or Are You Looking to Hire an Admin Team? If yes, keep reading, to not make the same mistakes I’ve made. In my last email, we talked about how I mismanaged my business and eventually I hired my potty training teacher, Ms. Pam. After I hired her I started working on my next move, a center director. I took action and I did a huge hiring Job fair, and everyone that I should have hired came. BUT here’s the thing it was by chance and not by system. Let me explain: There was a preschool that had just closed down, and the staff from that preschool came, but I wa ..read more

Are You Having The SAME Problem With Finding Staff? I can remember when I hired my best potty training teacher, and I also how I almost missed out on hiring her. Here is the backstory, I met my potty trainer teacher, Ms. Pam it really wasn’t a formal interview. At first, I wasn’t going to hire her because I thought she was full of the wrong intentions. I was using more street knowledge than anything at that time because I wasn’t good at hiring. I didn’t have the understanding of how to recognize a good hire. And I felt like she wasn’t going to be a good fit because I didn’t know what to look ..read more
