THE SLOWING DOWN HAS BEGUN

One thing I've noticed is that my body has begun to slow down. I have aches and pains in just about  every joints in my body. It takes me longer to get mobile in the morning but if I stop, I get worse. Old age comes with all those gifts, no kidding. My mind still feels young but my body betrays me. I was late planting this year because I had other important business to take care of. I've been planting loads of vegetables at the farm and it felt like there was no end in sight, but I'm finally done planting. My son has been doing the tilling with the big tractor. My husband, son, and ..read more

HAVE I BEEN GONE FOR THAT LONG?

Hello dear blogger friends. Yes, I've been gone a long time, have I?  I had intended to take a short time off from posting but it stretched out for way too long. My life has taken on more responsibilities and there never seems to be enough time and my energy is spent at the end of the day.  I'll gently get back in, little by little. I'm tired but healthy except for the occasional wear and tear on this old body.  I'll go back and share some photos of a great surprise in January this year. My husband and I were at our regular pub restaurant, having breakfast on Sunday morning, whe ..read more

MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE BEEN A SURGEON

A while back, I performed surgery on a garden statue for someone and recently I upgraded my surgical skills to perform surgery on a turkey. Don't worry, he didn't feel a thing as he was dead.  I agreed to cook a turkey for a group for a Christmas party. The frozen turkey was delivered to my house. When I opened the opaque bag, this is what I found, the skin on the breast was missing, and also one of the drumsticks.  I wasn't impressed and felt a little panicky as I thought that it would dry up without the skin.  I started to sprinkle a little bit of pepper and decided that ..read more

IT'S A GOOD THING THIS POST IS NOT A BILL

Yes, it's a good thing this post is not a bill because it's long overdue.  I would have the collecting agency after me. lol... Sorry, this post is a little long and boring. I never seem to find time or energy or the desire to post, lately. I've kept myself very busy this Fall. Since my husband can no longer do the bookwork for his corporate company, I've had to step up to the plate with the help of our accountant. I'm all caught up with the first three quarters of 2023 and I'm learning every time we meet. I work at it at home and I take my work to his office and he checks my work ..read more

NYC EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION

While the whole world is going bonkers, and yes, even my own country, Canada, this is amazing and I had to share this with you.  What a contrast to all the violent demonstrations we have seen daily.  We definitely need to love more instead of hate, I find this incredibly refreshing to see 4,000 people processing in the streets of New York City with Jesus, spreading the good news of Jesus's love.    Hugs,  Julia ..read more

If you want to have a day of laughter and fun,  just go to a hook-in. It was a blast, just like the last two I attended.  Each one has its own specialness about it.  I have more photos but these will suffice for today. I just wanted to show you a bit of the organization that goes to put on a hook-in. Of course, there is a lot of preplanning that goes on,  I thought that I better get my act together and post about our last hook-in.   Kimm already posted some photos on her blog and won the race, lol... I charged my phone and uploaded some photos. So sorry, I di ..read more

On Saturday, I attended the rug hook-in,  hosted by the Carnegie Rug Hooking group of Rothsay New Brunswick. Kimm mentioned that there were 110 hookers in attendance. I can believe it because the place was packed.  Lots of coffee, tea, and sweets. We brought our own lunch and mug and I can assure you,  no one left hungry. It was warm and sunny and they couldn't have picked a better day.  It was a wonderful way to spend part of Saturday.  I did manage to take some photos as soon as I found a place to park my stuff this time but there were so many people taking pic ..read more

DOING SURGERY ON A ST FRANCIS OF ASSISI GARDEN STATUE.

Someone from our church rescued a large St Francis of Assisi garden statue that was damaged in the rose garden by some snowmobilers who were trespassing on the church property. The weathered statue was brought inside the church lobby to protect it from further damage but its base was already damaged and it fell down, receiving further damage to the head. Here is the statue in question.  You can see the back of the neck was very thin. The statue was propped up by a pillow against a glass table from where I did the reattachment of the head. The fingers had to be rebuilt with green b ..read more
