Classes for Toddlers in NYC
La Petite Pear

I know it’s been a while, but things have been a little crazy over here! If you follow me on Instagram, you know that we were in Maine for two weeks…and then came back to some unexpected delays in our moving plan. Speaking of Instagram, I started this post thinking it would go there, but it just got too long. So, let me tell you what I’ve learned about classes for toddlers in NYC. Since we’ve had a couple of unexpected extra weeks in the city without daycare, we decided to try a bunch of different classes so we could get out of the apartment and see other kids. We didn’t want to sign up for a ..read more

If you’re a parent (or know people with kids) you’ve probably heard about Lovevery Play Kits. They’re designed by child development experts to be exactly what children want and need at every stage. And, Lovevery offers a Play Kit subscription, so you’ll receive a new set of toys every few months as your child grows. Everything included in these Play Kits is 100% child-safe, which gives me peace of mind. They use sustainable materials like 100% FSC-certified sustainably harvested wood and organic cotton fabrics. And the toys are beautiful too! I was so excited when Lovevery reached out to ask ..read more

Moving to the Suburbs
La Petite Pear

I’ve shared little bits here and there, but I wanted to tell you more about when and why we’re moving to the suburbs. When is a lot simpler question to answer. We’re moving in September. Our house is a new build and still has a little work to be done, which allowed us to give our current landlord time to find a new tenant. Our lease isn’t up until next April, and we weren’t planning on moving until then. But, we were taking exploratory trips to the areas we were considering moving to, and we found the perfect house. We almost passed it up, but in this market, we didn’t know if we would find so ..read more

Coastal Grandmother

I don’t know if the Coastal Grandmother trend is still in, but I love this outfit! The vibes are clean and simple, with a classic white and blue color palette. And, a white button down is such a versatile closet staple. It looks good with jeans and skirts. I left the last couple of buttons undone and tied the bottom of the shirt to define my waist more. This floral skirt has the prettiest details. It was a TJMaxx find! I can see myself wearing this outfit all through the summer. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw the news that we’re moving to the suburbs in the fall. We are so ex ..read more

Seth’s Dinosaur Birthday Party

Today, Seth turns two! More thoughts on that later in this post, but first I wanted to tell you about Seth’s Dinosaur Birthday Party. I love planning and hosting parties, and I’m all about a good theme. There were a few options, but dinosaurs were the winner this year. I somehow convinced Rob to wear matching t-shirts with me and Seth, and it was so special! The Location We hosted Seth’s party at Union Square Play, a play space that offers open-ended, immersive play classes for children under three in a parent friendly format. They have a variety of classes including art, yoga, music, and so ..read more

My Skincare Routine
La Petite Pear
by Sam

Earlier this week, I had to take a makeup-free, filter-free selfie to apply for a campaign. I looked at it and I thought to myself: “Wow, not bad for 37!” I didn’t start taking skincare seriously until my 30s, but now I have an established routine, and it has definitely made a difference. Although I test and review a lot of products, I don’t keep all of them. My primary focus when it comes to my skin is anti-aging, and I use a combination of higher end (Sephora) products and drugstore favorites. Here’s what my skincare routine looks like now: AM: Face Wash: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Fragrance Fr ..read more

Maternal Mental Health

Over the years, I’ve shared a lot about my mental health here: my anxiety, finding the right therapist, body image, and more. Deciding to become a mom was a journey for me, and my mental health has definitely been affected along the way. But, I didn’t realize the mental and emotional load of parenthood until I was living it. Being the primary parent just adds to this weight. I had no idea how many things have to be thought about on a daily basis, or what it’s like to worry constantly about milestones and safety. I didn’t know how hard it would be to stay calm through a tantrum, or feel helple ..read more

What I Read in March and April

As usual, I’m a little behind on sharing my latest book reviews. But, I’m happy to say I’ve been reading more. The list of what I read in March and April includes some historical fiction, some romance, and a couple of thrillers. I’m pretty generous with books, but there were actually a few that I didn’t love this time around. If you only read one of them, I suggest Instructions for Dancing.  Let me know what you’re reading, and check out previous posts for more recommendations. Things We Hide From the Light by Lucy Score Nash Morgan was always known as the good Morgan brother, with a smil ..read more

Cool Girl Vibes
La Petite Pear

I’ve never really been cool, and although it was a struggle in my teenage years, I’m totally okay with it as an adult. But, certain outfits make me feel like a different version of myself, and this one is giving total cool girl vibes. I don’t know if it’s the print or the silhouette, but it’s working! This outfit is another example of how you can totally rock a bold pattern if you’ve got curves. I also feel like this style of pant with a platform shoe elongates my legs, which I always appreciate. This set is from Mango, and they have a bunch of other ones that are perfect for spring. As I men ..read more

Bold Pattern and Block Heels
La Petite Pear
by Sam

These blooms are a little more subtle than the ones from last week’s post, but still beautiful! I love the pop of purple as a backdrop for this neutral outfit. But, as I always say, neutral doesn’t have to be boring! Bold pattern and block heels definitely take it up a notch. This fabulous skirt is from a two-piece set that I got at Anthropologie last year. The best thing about sets is you can wear the pieces separately, so you get much more wear out of it. I know some people who are curvy on the bottom get nervous about bold patterns, but you can totally rock it. Try something in black and w ..read more
