The Life of the Mentawai Tribe The Mentawai are the native people of the Mentawai Islands in West Sumatra province, Indonesia. They live a semi-nomadic hunter-gatherer lifestyle in the coastal and rainforest environments of the islands. I always try to get off the beaten track when I am traveling so when I was in Indonesia I chose to go visit the Mentawai Islands off the Sumatra coast. As usual, I was not disappointed. A 10 hour night crossing by boat will get you to Siberut which is the largest island of the 4 groups of Mentawai Islands. As I didn’t have any time commitments, I dec ..read more

Travel Into the South of France   The Herault region in southern France has a strong cultural identity, deeply rooted traditions and a rich cuisine representative of it’s Mediterranean heritage and lifestyle. I have been traveling a lot the past 12 years but I never really explored my home country. Last summer I went back to France for a couple of months and decided to spend some time discovering the area where I come from. There are two distinct settings within the region – the hinterland backcountry and the coast – which I spent many days exploring by motorbike. The hinterland of L ..read more

How to shoot portraits while traveling How to shoot portraits while traveling It is really important to take your time with the person before asking if you can take his/her picture. It’s about building a relationship and not just pressing the trigger and running away. I really enjoy taking portrait photos when I am traveling and doing so has actually shaped the kind of traveller I am. Interacting with the local people and spending time with them is the best part of traveling, for me. I also learn a lot more about their culture, religion and general way of life than I otherwise would ..read more

Langzhong ancient town   Langzhoug it’s one of Four Great Towns of China with an excellent preserved architectural culture and the most friendly townspeople from my China trip. One of my highlights from traveling in China was spending time in Langzhong, where for a couple of days I wandered around its 2300 year old ancient town trying my best to get lost. Langzhong ancient town, a part of a larger Langzhong City, is a famous historical and cultural town. It was one of the birth places of numerous original Chinese cultures including Feng Shui, the Chinese philosophical system of harmo ..read more

The Epic Trans-Mongolian Railway   One of the longest railway networks in The World. Tour the Gobi Desert, Mongolian steppe and endless Siberian landscape on this epic train ride.   For some reason I have always loved traveling by train. I do not know if it’s because my father used to work for the French train company or simply because journeying by train feels more adventurous; whatever the reason, I am grateful. I can remember traveling through France in the sleeping wagon and being content just laying with my eyes closed, listening to the sound of wheel on rail. That is when I be ..read more

A glimpse of the enchanting Solomon Islands     Nearly 1000 islands surrounded by beautiful reefs and lagoons make up this archipelago nation. Here, culture and lifestyles have been shaped by an intimate relationship with the Ocean.   Within the Melanesian region of the Pacific, just south of the Equator, there is a cluster of alluring islands. Here, an incredibly diverse and charming population continues to nurture a culture that has changed little over the years. These are the Happy Isles… or Solomon Islands.
