Katie Couric - Here’s what I’ve been up to!

Promising to accept election results used to be a given but that may no longer be the case. With less than six months to go, top Republicans have either dodged or outright refused to reveal whether they’ll accept November’s outcome. They appear to be taking a page from Donald Trump’s playbook since he has been noncomiital and hinted he might challenge the results (again). “If everything’s honest, I’ll gladly accept the results. I don’t change on that,” he told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel earlier this month. “If it’s not, you have to fight for the right of the country.” But does this mean t ..read more

Before I developed this recipe, I would have told you that in-season corn is impossible to make more perfect than it already is. But then I started playing around with seasoning blends — specifically one that includes ranch powder (Did she really just do that? Yes, she did) — and my life has been forever changed. It’s an umami bomb in your mouth and would work as a side next to any dish in my cookbook. Caribbean Spiced Grilled Corn Recipe Prep Time: 25 minutes | Cook Time: 15 minutes | Yield: Serves 8 Special Equipment 8 metal or wooden skewers Ingredients For the Caribbean Spice ..read more

The Benefits of Embracing Imperfection
Katie Couric - Here’s what I’ve been up to!

When I released my first book about starting a side hustle in 2017, I was like every new author: anxious, excited, and full of hope. I laid my heart on the pages as I wrote. I hired an editor and pursued self-publishing, creating my own deadlines to hold myself accountable. As I was writing, I got another big career opportunity (thanks, universe!) that I wanted to align with my book release. But that meant I had to pick up the pace. So, my editor and I hurried to get it done.  As a result, two things happened.  I released the book — yay! The response was largely positive, which I co ..read more

Ted Danson on Aging, Acting, and Why He Isn’t Slowing Down Anytime Soon
Katie Couric - Here’s what I’ve been up to!
by Tess Bonn

Ted Danson is easily one of the most recognizable actors in Hollywood, with a career that spans decades. Maybe you’ve been a fan from the beginning, during his early days as the charming bartender Sam Malone on Cheers, and then discovered his dark side as the conniving afterworld architect on The Good Place. If you’re a true fan, you’ve likely loved watching him play himself recently on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm. While it’s great to be appreciated for your talents, being recognizable has its downsides, especially if you have insecurities, as Danson does — believe it or not. The actor has lon ..read more

Katie Couric - Here’s what I’ve been up to!
by Caroline Burke

In the last few years, we’ve only just begun to get a sense of how profoundly damaging single-use plastic is for our planet.  Of particular concern are microplastics, which are toxic fragments of plastic barely visible to the human eye. Microplastics have been found all over the world, in the most unexpected places, from the deep sea to the human bloodstream. Recent studies estimate that each week the average person consumes 5 grams of microplastics, which is around the weight of a credit card. When I think about the implications of this terrifying, man-made phenomenon, it isn’t just the ..read more

Katie Couric - Here’s what I’ve been up to!

As the war between Israel and Hamas continues to unfold, we’re seeing activity that could hold top officials on both sides of the conflict accountable for their alleged actions during this time. On Monday, the International Criminal Court’s chief prosecutor Karim Khan said he submitted applications for arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his defense minister Yoav Gallant, along with Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar, Mohammed Diab Ibrahim Al-Masri, and Ismail Haniyeh.  But none of the five men will be placed under immediate arrest — the warrant applications mus ..read more

Does Recycling Actually Make a Difference? A Sustainability Expert Weighs in
Katie Couric - Here’s what I’ve been up to!
by Alaina Mancini

So, you’re trying to help the environment by tossing a stack of old papers in the paper recycling bin at work. Then, one night, you catch someone dumping those recyclables into the regular trash can. Ugh, recycling is a waste of my time, you think. Does it actually make any difference? If this sounds familiar, that’s because the question is all too common. The truth is many people give up on recycling when they don’t see (or feel) their efforts are taken seriously. Or they simply don’t know how to properly recycle and never start in the first place. But we’re here to help demystify the ins an ..read more
