Welcome Warm Weather With Rick Martinez’s Watermelon Shrimp Ceviche

I had this ceviche while lying on a secluded beach just outside Tulum. I had been driving for weeks and hadn’t taken a day off, so I decided to get an Airbnb for the weekend and gave myself one beach day. I rented a cabana, ate ceviches, and swam all afternoon. It was one of the best days of my life. The flavors of this ceviche were incredible, but what was most surprising was the burnt habanero chile oil drizzled on top. Its heat and bitterness cut through the bright and sweet flavors — it was at once sweet, spicy, and refreshing — in essence, everything I wanted at that moment. Ceviche de C ..read more

In a shocking turn of events on Thursday, New York’s highest court overturned Harvey Weinstein’s rape and sexual assault conviction from 2020. In a 4-3 decision, it found that the presiding judge in the case made “egregious errors” and ordered a new trial. “We conclude that the trial court erroneously admitted testimony of uncharged, alleged prior sexual acts against persons other than the complainants of the underlying crimes,” the court’s decision reads. “The remedy for these egregious errors is a new trial.” The disgraced movie producer had been serving a 23-year sentence in New York on fe ..read more

According to new research, millions of women may be turning to an untested treatment to relieve their menopause symptoms — and many of them say it actually works.  Their drug of choice? Bud. Mary Jane. Reefer.  That’s right: Studies have shown that more and more women are using cannabis to help with hot flashes, mood swings, and other issues associated with “The Change,” even though it’s not an FDA-approved treatment for menopause — and very little is known about its long-term health effects. But new research suggests that these women might be onto something, says Lauren Streic ..read more

5 Things I Wish I’d Known About Hormone Replacement Therapy

I hadn’t felt like myself lately. Usually an upbeat, productive, friendly person, I felt deflated, flat, lost — as if I’d fallen into a dark hole, unable to climb out and dust myself off. It wasn’t until I’d battled months of sweaty insomnia, a series of mysterious yeast infections which left me clutching a Ziplock of ice cubes on my privates (yes, ice cubes), and a few pubescent-like emotional breakdowns convinced I had no real friends, that I began realizing something was definitely off. I had no idea that this trench that I’d been stuck in was, in fact, perimenopause — or that there was an ..read more

A controversial video is going viral online asking women a simple, yet poignant question: Would you rather be stuck alone in the forest with a bear or a man? While we would expect women to answer anything but being stranded with one of the most terrifying creatures on earth, most of the people in the video said they feared a different kind of apex predator: the opposite sex. The video launched an exhaustive conversation about female safety and sparked a debate about how much of a hazard men are to women. “Our mothers never felt a need to warn us about bears,” one woman commented on the video ..read more

It’s been one week since mass arrests took place at Columbia University, where pro-Palestinian students erected a “Gaza Solidarity Encampment” and demanded the university divest from companies that support Israel. With university president Minouche Shafik’s approval, NYPD officers arrested more than 100 Columbia and Barnard students, some of whom have since been suspended.  Tensions escalated over the weekend, and non-student protestors gathered outside the campus gates, some hurling antisemitic insults and threats. On Sunday, Rabbi Elie Buechler, who’s associated with Columbia Universit ..read more
