Questions about old loom

I got this old loom at an estate sale some years ago, and have recently been trying to learn more about weaving. I am wondering if all of the required pieces are still attached to this loom, what it’s called, and what kind of work might be needed to get it into working order. The wood looks to need oil, and the metal bits look quite rusty. Is this salvageable? Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/Xerophile420 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hello! I am a beginner weaver and I’ve inherited a loom that I have no idea how to dress. I am struggling with the tie ups right now and wondered whether someone in this group could tell me what type of loom this is? If I can narrow down my googling it would really help a ton. Thank you weavers!! submitted by /u/Creative-Sweet-9407 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

First rigid heddle weave

I have been interested in weaving but avoided it because I already have too many hobbies. Then someone gave me a loom they didn’t need and a local-ish place offered a class in how to direct warp. The second project was being planned before this one even came off the loom. Sigh. Wool yarn from a small mill and leftover from a sweater project. I think it is a 10 dent heddle? On a Beka loom. I crocheted the selvedges because they were a mess - but I was getting better by the end! Can you tell which end is which in the second photo? I carried the color change up one side the whole way. submi ..read more

20/2 unmercerized cotton warp, hand dyed on loom, 20/2 mercerized cotton weft. 2 scarves; have included previously posted photos for context. Some color discrepancies because of lighting, camera, location, etc. but definitely they turned out more pastel after washing.

Hey, a weaving beginner here, started weaving this patern from the center, but now can't fill the sides, as the warp threads aren't rising (I was using a ruler to plain weave then putting the weft threads through). Since that isn't working, I tried using a thick eyed needle but VERY CONFUSED as to -
