My body started really aching two weeks ago out of left field. Primarily lower body but can be upper as well. I started T about a month ago (had none, on Mirena, had been getting periods regularly until early March.) Is this related to the T or just regular peri-hell? Anyone have any success in getting rid of this general achiness? submitted by /u/justmeraw [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Yall. I’ve tried so hard for way too many years 3 times the Dr prescribed HRT, I’ve done the maca on and off, I’ve done the otc “feminine balancing” creams. The maca and otc creams slow down hair loss and put a little glow and lift in my face and okay my hair is shinier and nicer too. But I can’t. with. the side effects. I can’t ??‍♀️ They all make me sooooo tired like I’m moving in quick sand every day and zero ability to lose any weight in fact it always makes me gain. AND! They GIVE me hot flashes! I’m ditching it all ladies, and feeling more energetic and clear headed and already not so ..read more

Larynx inflammation (what doesn’t menopause effect?)

Kind of a PSA..my larynx has been sore for a few years. Worried I have laringeal cancer level sore. My voice gets weak and sounds like it’s breaking and horse, and it’s tiring and painful to talk. I put off going to a specialist as I was so fearful. Anyway, 2wks into 1mg transdermal estrogen HRT and I noticed my throat isn’t as sore. 4wks in I’m even less sore/hoarse and I get the courage to get it checked; just some mild residual inflammation but no nasties. I google “peer reviewed estrogen larynx” and guess what? The larynx is full of estrogen receptors (and testosterone ones, hence vocal c ..read more

Where the Meno jokes and comedians at?

I suddenly had this craving for a female version of Lewis Black completely going off on menopause in gorey detail. I heard a great snippet of Wanda Sykes talking about menopause and having less empathy, but are there any other female comedians talking about this at length? Ideally with bitterness. I’m seriously thinking of tracking down a copy of Searching for Greta Garbo - just to see an older Ann Bancroft (as an elderly Brooklyn-ite in the 1970s-80’s) go apeshit on some construction workers hooting at young women. Fried Green Tomatoes doesn’t do it for me, I need someone making FAR less eff ..read more

I’m wondering whether it is a mistake to skip a week and a half of vag cream. I’m going on a trip and don’t want to be bothered with the applicator and messiness of it. I’ve been using it for a couple months. My symptoms weren’t extreme at the start. Thoughts? Words of wisdom? Do I just buckle up and deal with it? submitted by /u/leftcoastanimal [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Estrogen OR progesterone HRT

I’m trying to decide if I will get more benefit from either estrogen OR progesterone HRT. I’m in a position where I cannot take both. 45F on chemical menopause since a couple years ago due to endometriosis. I have been trying HRT to manage the typical menopause symptoms. And it works well for most of that, BUT unfortunately estradiol aggravates endometriosis, and I end up getting heavy painful periods - basically reversing what the chemical menopause meds is doing. So now my option is to either be on only progesterone (Prometrium) OR Duavive/Duavee which is basically Premarin with some kinda ..read more

I feel like my husband got ripped off. I started peri right around our wedding and I don’t feel like doing anything. I’m so exhausted all the time and he keeps asking me to do various activities and my answer is always, not today. I’m also burned all the way out post pandemic as I’m in healthcare. I’m now on HRT and hoping for miracles in terms of new energy so we can enjoy life together like we both planned. This is supposed to be such a happy phase! But it hasn’t turned out that way. It all feels a little… flat. Anyone else? submitted by /u/Jellyblush [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Day 1 of HRT!

54 year old here. I finally started HRT today after dismissing the idea for probably about 10 years. I, like so many others, believed the hype around the WHI study, so I tried everything else to control my symptoms. Mine weren't horrible, but I honestly haven't 'felt like myself' for about three years now. I remember being on birth control back in the day and feeling fine, actually really good while taking it. My issues started right around the time I came off of birth control at around 45. So, I'm with Kaiser, and my GP had prescribed a low dose anti-depressant a few years ago for my hot fla ..read more
