I am not a mother yet, but as an advocate in the mental health community, I know the hardship new mothers face regarding their mental health. Postpartum depression is often overlooked and not taken seriously. Many women fear coming forward about their struggles due to guilt, shame, and fear of judgment. Addiction is something that is heavily shamed in society. Why? I struggle to find that answer myself. We live in a culture that is alcohol-obsessed. When people think about having a good time, alcohol is usually the foundation. Fun=Booze.
