Two of the four Chardham destinations in Uttarakhand opened for the annual pilgrimage on the scheduled date of 26th April, 2020. The portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri Temples opened on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritya at 12:35 PM and 12:41 PM, respectively. At Gangotri Temple, prayers were offered in Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s name, who made an offering of Rs 1100 at the sacred shrine. On the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya, the Char Dham Yatra in Garhwal Himalayas began on Tuesday i.e., 7th May 2019 with the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri temples in Uttarkashi district being opened after ceremonial worship that was done all night in Bhairon Ghati.
