Last month I made some tea dishes, and I had a class and one of my students made tiny glass dishes and it reminded me how much I love little dishes. Here is a picture of the tiny dish with my normal size dish. Additionally, the top green is 2 layers of glass and the bottom green is 1 layer of glass – both the same size. Here are some relatively plain glasses, but so pretty. The one in the middle is iridescent – the right – iridized is up and the left – iridized is on the bottom. The tiny dishes below are more decorated and maybe a bit more fun. Aren’t they beautiful. These three are fun, t ..read more

Fused Glass Cremation for my Sister
Elegant Fused Glass by Karen

This is an extremely personal post. A few months ago, my nephew passed away. My sister asked me if I could make some cremation crosses for her and his family. I first made her some pocket crosses with the ashes on the back. Pocket crosses are kept in your pocket to let you know God is with you. Clearly knowing God is with my nephew’s family is very important at this sad time. I also made fused glass cross pendants, again with the ashes in the back. I also made two fused glass cross bracelets, again with the ashes in the back. For my sister I also made her a pocket heart and then I gave her ..read more

Fused Glass Flower Project Class

Normally when people give glasses, they keep to a common subject i.e., ornaments, dishes, casting, etc. But not me, wait until you see all of the things my students made in this fused glass class. As always, I like to show my setup for the students, including their supplies e.g., vitrigraph, opaque glass, transparent, murrine, millefiori, cane, and so much more. As always, I had the liability forms (remember glass cuts) free fused glass pendants as their free gift. Here are pictures of my studio, I’ve been trying to get it better organized. Here are pictures of my finished room (top 3 photo ..read more

Large Fused Glass Snaps

During one of my fused glass classes. One of my students and customers wanted to buy another fused glass necklace. She likes the big snaps so since she set up the class instead of two, I let her choose 3 big snaps. Here are two of the snaps she chose, the third one was on the necklace around her neck so I don’t have a picture of it. I don’t always make the big snaps so even though I have 30 or so I also gave her the option to look in my supply of cabochons that I hadn’t finished yet. Here are some of the options. The two above are from the box of cabochons. I just put the back on for her and ..read more

Deep Fused Glass Scenic Technique

One of my goals is always to try new fused glass techniques. Well, here is one of them, it’s based on a Tabitha’s YouTube video. She is amazing and she create a myriad of the murrine and millefiori. I love her glass accessories and her videos are just so fun.  I won’t go into how to make the technique, but I will tell you I find it a bit challenging and takes several steps. They can be magnets or pendants, but because they take so much work, I think the best way to use them is by framing them. Here are some ways they can be framed. Here is the butterfly scene, with 6 possible frames. He ..read more

I’ve written about my production Fused Glass commercial soap dishes for hotels before. Recently I received another orders from one of my loyal hotels in California. If you would like me to make custom soap dishes for your hotel or restaurant, please contact me I’m happy to create them for you. If yo ..read more
