My Favourite Reads of March 2024

March was another quiet month reading wise. We’ve been quite busy and a couple of activity laden mini-breaks didn’t help (although they were fun!). I always imagine I’ll read a lot when we’re away and then never do. Too many other things to occupy me. The books I did read were wonderful though. No overall favourite because it’s again too hard to choose. So here they are, in no particular order of excellentness. . The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston Well, it’s official. After The Dead Romantics (my ) and now The Seven Year Slip, Ashley Poston is now an auto-buy author. This was charming, movin ..read more

Crack open the champagne and tear open that big block of choccie because it’s celebration time! Yes, after a long wait, The Grazier’s Son has finally hit the shelves. If you’re wondering where all that “wheeeeeing!!!!” is coming from, that’ll be the Hein house. I am stupidly excited about this book and cannot wait for you all to read it. I want you to wallow in the splendour of Westwind, be intrigued by its secrets, gossip with the small-town Grassmore population, and fall in love with Stirling and Darcy as deeply as I did. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who pre-ordered a copy of The Grazier ..read more

A Sneak-peek at THE GRAZIER’S SON!
Cathryn Hein

With only ONE WEEK to go until The Grazier’s Son releases, I thought I’d whet your appetite with a sneak peek at the entire first chapter. Go on, you know you want to read it! Chapter One In the end, the grave wasn’t hard to find. It lay in the shadow of the tallest, most ostentatious monument in the cemetery, as dark, plain and flat as its neighbour was lofty, light and gaudy. The slab sported a single ugly embellishment—a coarse brown block erupting from its polished granite surface. Where the epitaph should have read ‘Rest in Peace’ someone had stuck a clumsily engraved hunk of brick over ..read more

My Favourite Reads of February 2024

Welcome to My Favourite Reads, the series where I rave about the best books I’ve read over the past month, and love it when you share yours too! February was busy, with not a lot of reading time and a monster-sized fantasy that took some getting through, so this month’s list is a bit light on. The books that are listed were fantastic though! No overall favourite because they were all great and highly recommended. . The Scoundrel’s Daughter by Anne Gracie Hooly-dooly, The Scoundrel’s Daughter was a cracking read and a great start to this new The Brides of Bellaire Gardens series. Absolutely loa ..read more

My Favourite Reads of January 2024

Welcome to My Favourite Reads, a regular blog series where I share recent reads that have tickled my fancy and love hearing what you’ve been enjoying too. January proved to be a bit of a slow month book wise, despite the summer holiday vibe. A few DNFs (did not finish) didn’t help. Then there was another book that slowed matters, because although it wasn’t really hitting the right note, I didn’t want to not finish it either. Here are the ones I did like. No overall favourite this month because they were all beauties. . The Guncle by Stephen Rowley Oh, this was a lovely read. Such a gorgeo ..read more

My Favourite Reads of November 2023

Welcome to My Favourite Reads, where I share books I’ve recently enjoyed and encourage you to do the same! I read nine books in November which was fab going. Or, it would have been, had all nine been what I hoped. Alas, a couple were duds and won’t get mentioned here. But that’s the way reading goes. It’s all subjective and there will be people out there who adore what I didn’t. But here are the books I loved, with my favourite being… Actually, I have two overall favourites, and they are: . A Ladies Guide to Fortune Hunting by Sophie Irwin Oh, this was a hoot! Kitty Talbot has twelve weeks to ..read more

Five more rural romances coming to audio!

It seems only moments ago that I was celebrating THE GRAZIER’S SON being released in audio as well as paperback and ebook, then just over a week ago something even more exciting happened. I signed the contract to put five of my previous titles into audio through audio powerhouse Bolinda. Namely, ROCKING HORSE HILL, HEART OF THE VALLEY, HEARTLAND, THE FALLS, and THE HORSEMAN’S PROMISE. Isn’t that brilliant? I am so, so chuffed. I’ve wanted to have audio versions of my books for a long time. It’s a hugely popular format, and a growing one, and it pained me that some readers were missing out. No ..read more

My Favourite Reads of October 2023

Welcome again to a brand new edition of My Favourite Reads, where I share the books I’ve loved reading over the past month and invite you to share yours too. It was an up and down month of reading in October. I had a couple of DNFs (did-not-finish) and I also read a short story from an author I adore which I found a bit… lacking. Then there was the 500+ page historical romantic fantasy that could have been a great read had it been shortened by at least a third. It’s very highly rated so clearly I’m in the minority in feeling this way. But that’s reading, isn’t it? We all love different things ..read more

The Grazier’s Son Cover Reveal!
Cathryn Hein

I am thrilled to bits to present to you the cover and blurb for my upcoming release The Grazier’s Son. Isn’t it a stunner? When taking up an unexpected inheritance with an unhappy past, newcomer Stirling is daunted to find a town set against him. Except, perhaps, for one sassy, big-hearted woman, who is willing to give him a chance to prove he belongs. Pitch-perfect rural romance from popular Australian author Cathryn Hein. When helicopter pilot Stirling Hawley travels to Grassmoor in Victoria’s lush western districts to claim an inheritance, he doesn’t expect to face a town that hates him. N ..read more

My Favourite Reads of September 2023

Welcome to the latest edition of My Favourite Reads, where I share the books I’ve loved over the past month and encourage you to add to my to-be-read pile by doing the same. September started off so slow reading wise that I was sure it was going to be a repeat of May, when I read only a paltry two books. This time, unlike then, at least I would have had the excuse of The Grazier’s Son edit deadline and then travel to explain my slackness. But in the end I didn’t need an excuse because things picked up and I managed seven books. Admittedly a couple were quite short but still. There was reading ..read more
