Ending the nine-month long confusion period, Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC) in a recent order has increased net metering capacity up to 500 kilowatt (KWp) from earlier provision of 10kWp.
In June 2021, the central government had approved Net Metering Up to 500 kW Capacity for Rooftop Solar Power Systems. The Maharashtra government on Tuesday announced its new Maharashtra EV Policy 2021 to accelerate adoption of electric vehicles and help in developing the charging infrastructure in the state of Maharashtra. The policy also offers incentives for setting up public charging stations and aimed at making Maharashtra the country’s top manufacturer of EV in India.

NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd , a 100% subsidiary of National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC), has received the go-ahead from Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) to set up 4750 MW renewable energy park at Rann of Kutch in Khavada, Gujarat. This will be India’s largest solar park to be built by the largest power producer of the country.

30 June 2021: Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC) has issued an extension to Net-Metering deadline in Rajasthan till 15th September 2021. Hence, Rooftop and Small Solar Grid Interactive Systems commissioned under Net Metering agreements upto 15th September, 2021, shall continue to operate under the Net Metering arrangement till the period of Connection Agreement.

29 June 2021: Union Ministry of Power has finally notified the much-awaited amendment to the Electricity (Rights of Consumers) 2020 Rules. In a gazette notification, the central government has approved Net Metering Up to 500 kW Capacity for Rooftop Solar Power Systems.

As per a the notification issued on 11th June 2021, the Department of Heavy Industries (DHI) has announced increase in the electric two-wheelers subsidy in India. The announcement came in form of partial modification of the Scheme for Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India Phase II (FAME India Phase II).
As per the notification, the incentive for electric two-wheelers has been increased to ₹15,000 per kWh, up by ₹5,000 per kWh from the earlier subsidy rate. Additionally, the cap on incentives for Electric 2 Wheelers will be 40% of the cost of vehicles.
