Happy Halloween!  In last month’s blog, I mentioned that Happy Crafters had fully embraced “spooky season,” and oh what a fun month it has been!  BUT, with the weather getting cooler and the trees changing color, I can’t help but pivot my focus to – yep, you guessed it – Thanksgiving! Tis’ the season for cozy sweaters, crispy leaves, and my personal favorite: food puns. Hey, I can’t help it – I yam who I yam. 😉 Tomorrow is November 1st, or what I call the “unofficial start of the holiday season”. To honor this, I created a quick and cute Thanksgiving - focu ..read more

Have you heard the news?! Siser has launched a GROUNDBREAKING new HTV that makes creating custom, printed designs accessible to all of us “at home” crafters. The best part? All you need is your photo / artwork, your everyday inkjet printer, scissors and a home iron or heat press. Yes, it really is THAT simple! Crafters – let’s give a round of applause for Siser EasyColor DTV! Before EasyColor DTV, printing full-color designs meant using transfer papers which, let’s be honest, are not the most durable, never-mind the cracking and breaking as well as feeling stiff as a boar ..read more

Four score and seven beers ago... Cheers to the Fourth of July! Here’s one more thing you should know about me: I LOVE the Fourth of July. Not only is it my favorite holiday (shout out to Thomas Jefferson!) but everything about this time of year makes me happy: the weather, fireworks and bonfires, the excuse to eat as many hot dogs as I want in one single day… I could go on and on.    With the Fourth a little less than three weeks away, it is safe to say all these things have been in the forefront of my mind recently.  While sifting through project ideas to help get me ..read more

A Tribute to Memorial Day

Happy May! For me, many things come to mind when I think about this month - longer days, brighter skies, warmer weather! I think of birds chirping, flowers blooming and the unofficial “kick off” to summer that’s headed our way Memorial Day weekend. While Memorial Day weekend has become synonymous with the start of beach days and family vacations, it’s important to remember that it’s also a time meant for reflection and remembrance. That being said, something else comes to mind, a poem ingrained into my memory by schoolteachers growing up: “In Flanders Fields” by John McCrae ..read more

Celebrating Cinco de Mayo!

¡Hello amigos!  19 years ago, I moved to the United States, and I must say it has been quite an adventure. When I lived in Mexico, we acknowledged the date but never really celebrated Cinco de Mayo as it is only celebrated in Puebla, a state in the southern part of central Mexico. To share a little history, Cinco de Mayo is not the Mexican Independence Day (for the curious it is September 15th). It instead marks the date of the battle against the French who had invaded Mexico. Although the French outnumbered us and had more powerful military equipment, it was not enough to defeat t ..read more

Happy International Women’s Day!  In honor of this holiday and to celebrate Women’s History Month, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to share a project with you that I felt inspired to create. I knew I wanted to pay tribute to a woman in history whose mission was to make a positive change. While scrolling online, I stumbled upon this quote: “What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” – Jane Goodall This got me thinking…  What do I do each day that is impactful?  What changes can I make in my da ..read more
