With the new Macroom bypass opening on the 8th of December, the local club West Muskerry AC organised a 10-mile and 5k road race on it today before it opened.In the 5k race, there were 187 finishers while there were 138 in the 10-mile. Considering it's probably a one off and unique event, I thought the 10-mile would have got more runners as it's not every day you get to run on a new bypass.  Due to some flooding on the course near the coast, the marathon in Clonakilty was cancelled this year. The half-marathon and 10k however though did go ahead with just over 1400 runners crossing the finish line.When you consider that it was wet and windy and that half of the 5k parkruns in Cork were cancelled on the same day, 1400 plus runners is a big turnout for an event in West Cork. The Skibbereen 10-mile & 5-mile road race was held on Sunday the 20th of November 2022. A total of 156 runners took part with 72 in the 10-mile and 84 in the 5-mile.
