A couple of weeks ago I held my first ever beginners henna workshop. I have taught henna before, some friends and I used to run a Henna Jam in Norwich, but this was the first time I had run a workshop like this solo. I absolutely loved it! I have such a passion and love for henna and I really enjoy getting to share that with others, especially when they have an interest too! Over the years I have gained a lot of knowledge and skills around henna and it was fantastic to be able to share some of it with my students. There are tonnes of little tips and tricks that you pick up along the way that m ..read more

Being pregnant is an incredibly magical time. For me it was probably when I felt the most beautiful I have ever felt and despite the inevitable aches and pains it felt that I was using my body to the best of it's abilities. To know your body is fulfilling a great purpose to make new life and that that life is your own child growing inside you is one of the most sacred and special things a women can feel.   Through out history henna has been used to mark special occasions. It is believed in many cultures to have magical like qualities, to bless and bring luck to the wearer in what ev ..read more

Will you like the placement/size/design once it’s actually there? Henna provides the perfect opportunity to try before you buy and get to know what you want before you commit to the real thing. A well looked after mehndi tattoo can last for up to 2 weeks, some times longer depending on where it is on your body. This means you have enough time to wear your design and get a real feel for wh ..read more

I wanted to write to share with you my new love of  realistic floral designs in henna. I have always had a great love for drawing flowers and back in the days before I found henna most my art focused on botanical drawing but for some reason it has only recently become a thing for me to use them in my mehndi designs. The inspiration came from the time I spent at the most wonderful weekend that is Henna Huddle. There I took a class from Veronica Lilu who is an absolute master of henna and is particularly famous for her peony designs. Since returning from Henna Huddle I have started using fl ..read more

Price Guide for Henna Appointments

Now that I am working at Indigo Tattoo Studio regularly and booking time slots I am frequently asked how much henna can be done in a half hour or hour slot so I thought I would put together a visual guide to help you work out how long you need for your appointment. Mostly I am booking appointments that are either half an hour for £25 or an hour for £40. Half an hour is enough time to do either 1 full hand or foot or both hands/feet with smaller, more simple designs. For both hands/feet with full, detailed designs or something bigger like a back or shoulder piece we would need an hour. The pic ..read more

I love a good collaboration, especially with a photographer as talented and sweet as Nicole Huggins. Nicole is also my cousin which made to project all the more enjoyable. A 2nd year photography student at Norwich University of the Arts, Nicole is currently working on a project based on occupations and having wanted to work together for a while now we jumped on the chance to team up. I couldn’t be happier with the photos she took of me applying bridal henna to the wonderful Anna. And I was doubly impressed as she did it all while taking on my maybe a little bit, ever so slightly, “what about i ..read more
