The South African Institute of Drug-Free Sport has informed Triathlon South Africa that Annah Watkinson has been charged on 12 October 2022 with the following anti-doping rule violations namely an adverse analytical finding in respect of prohibited substances, namely: presence of a Prohibited Substance or its Metabolites or Markers in an Athlete’s Sample, pursuant to Article 2.1 of the ADR, by virtue of the presence of Mestanolone; and use of Mestanolone pursuant to Article 2.2. of the ADR. Annah Watkinson (the athlete) was charged with:   A violation of Article 2.1 of the SAIDS and WADA Anti-Doping Rules due to the presence of a Prohibited Substance (Mestanolone), and   A violation of Article 2.2 of the aforesaid Rules due to the use of such Prohibited Substance.   On 21 November 2023 the Independent Anti-Doping Hearing Panel determined the following:   An Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) by the athlete has been established.   The ADRV has been intentional.   The athlete must serve a period of Ineligibility of 4 (four) years, to expire on ..read more

World Triathlon has informed Triathlon South Africa that Mhlengi Gwala has been charged with an Anti-Doping Rule Violation, namely an adverse analytical finding in respect of prohibited substances, namely: Adverse Analytical Finding of GW1516-sulfoxide and GW1516-sulfone (Ultra Nox). There were five Team SA athletes in action in the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama, on Saturday. Conditions were again described as “brutally hot” on the penultimate day of competition. Dylan Kruger and Jonathan Benjamin competed in the men’s duathlon, Natalie Sterk took part in the women’s duathlon and sport climbing was represented by Lauren Mukheibir and Mel Janse van Rensburg. World Triathlon Series Edmonton, in partnership with World Triathlon and Triathlon Canada, regret to inform that the Age-Group Championship races will not be held this August 17-22 as part of the 2021 World Triathlon Championship Finals Edmonton.
