Hello all! I'm about six weeks out from my first Ironman (California) and I've got a bit of a conundrum. In July I herniated two discs in my back which caused sciatic pain radiating down to my hamstring. For a month I was advised to not run or ride in the aero position. I'm fully back to running but I've yet turn return to biking in aero (everything was/is on the hoods). Today I got the news that a 70.3 I planned to do in October has been cancelled. Organization claimed that the city cancelled the permission for the ride and they tried to get a solution but they didn't reach anything. I am pretty pissed since I book already flights and accommodation and the worst thing there aren't many events near my city Vienna,so I will have to postpone to next season. This will be my first time shipping a bike. I have a connecting flight to Panama City so I’m a little wary about taking my bike as a checked bag. I don’t want it to get lost on the connection. My question with Bike Flights is where do you ship it to? If I ship it directly to my AirBnB I don’t want it to arrive early and no one is there to bring it inside. Is there anyway to have UPS hold onto it for a few days and I pick it up directly from them? Or is it best to find a bike shop to ship it to? Also does anyone have experience with connecting flights?
