Swimming in the Caribbean Sea
A Triathlete's Diary

The Caribbean Sea has always held a special place in my heart. Its mesmerizing turquoise waters can soothe my soul and lighten my spirits. So, I decided to escape on a mini vacation to Antigua; I was drawn to the water. Rain that first day Despite the torrential rain that welcomed us upon our arrival, I couldn’t resist the allure of the beach. The raindrops hitting the water’s surface created an enchanting spectacle. I walked down to the water, not caring about the heavy downpour. All I could think of was, “Let me see that water.” The next day, the rain cleared away. I woke up at 5:30 am and w ..read more

Skiing at Keystone was a Great Cross Training Activity
A Triathlete's Diary

This past week, I traded my bike and running shoes for skis and poles for four glorious days. The conditions were perfect. The snow was crisp and fresh, ideal for carving down the mountain. There was a unique thrill in feeling the cold wind against my face as I sped down those slopes, the world blurring around me. Navigating the Terrain As I navigated the challenging terrain, I felt a surge of triumph. It starkly contrasted the memories of five years ago when my companions would teasingly call me a ‘snail’ on the slopes. This time, I was the one leading the pack. It made me feel so good to kn ..read more

As a runner and triathlete, the right gear can significantly affect your performance and comfort. A crucial yet often overlooked part of this gear is your running socks. These can make or break your performance. But with so many socks, how do you determine which socks are right for you? Here are some factors to consider: Material Avoid cotton as it retains moisture and can lead to blisters. Back to Training after Brain Surgery
A Triathlete's Diary

Now, it’s been eight weeks since I had brain surgery, where a stent was put in the back of my head to correct an aneurysm that was unusually shaped, in a bad spot, and likely to rupture. As you all know, my sister passed away from a ruptured aneurysm at age 59, so the whole experience has been both mentally and physically trying. After eight weeks, I still have headaches that linger, sometimes 24 hours a day. I wake up with a headache, go to sleep, and have a headache throughout the day. In addition to these moderate pangs of pain, it feels as if I have a pressure cooker placed over my head. I ..read more
