I am coming to the end of my seventh month of pregnancy. And to be honest, I’m currently living a life I never thought possible for me. Becoming pregnant, given the years of anorexic destruction I put my body through in high school, was something that I had, in my heart of hearts, written off as a possibility for my body. I didn’t have my first period until I was 29, and even then, they were inconsistent at best. During my battle with anorexia, at 78 pounds, being so severely depleted for so long, the toll it took on my body and reproductive system was so detrimental, I wouldn’t let my heart ..read more

It dawned on me yesterday that I’m going to have to push a baby out here in two months! I’m not going to lie, that was definitely a sobering thought. However, it finally hit me yesterday that…all this bliss comes to an end when it comes time to actually PUSH THIS GIRL OUT. And yes, of course, the most joyful moment will follow: when she actually comes into the world and my husband and I get to hold her. However for ..read more

My Pregnancy Cravings…
BeautyBeyondBones

I’ll tell you what, the number one question I get asked as a pregnant lady is…are you having any weird food cravings? Which — to be honest is the question I always asked pregnant women too, because a) it’s fascinating, and b) as I alluded to in last week’s post, that was just about the only thing I knew about pregnancy: weird cravings. And sure, I’ve had some cravings…but I’m going to be honest: because I have added so many things since expanding the Specific Carbohydrate Diet to include beef, chicken, pork, bacon, turkey, lamb, and lentils and the legal cheeses….that eating has become an ad ..read more

Dear Lord, I come before you this afternoon in gratitude on the first day of my third trimester of pregnancy. Thank you, Lord for shepherding and carrying me through this journey of motherhood. I thank you for keeping me and my baby healthy, and I humbly ask that you continue to protect her and I in these last few months before she comes into this world. Thank You, Lord, for my wonderful husband — thank You for his patience, support and desire to be as involved as ..read more

Pickles and ice cream. Weight gain. Difficulty putting on shoes. I’m going to be honest: before I became pregnant, that was about all I knew about these 9…but really 10 months…of carrying a child. Right now, I am 26 weeks pregnant. And this whole beautiful journey has been one huge eye opening experience. Coming from a family of two older brothers, and being one of the first in my friend group to have kids…I had absolutely no clue what I was “in for” going into pregnancy. You see, I think there’s this misconception that just by being a girl, you know all of the secrets and ins and outs of car ..read more

Happy Eclipse Day, everyone! What an exciting day! Cincinnati is right on the edge of the path of totality, so we got a 99.9% eclipse, and wow was it awesome! We watched it from the roof of our condo, and thankfully it was a clear day! It got super eerily dark — like dusk — and chilly, and all the birds flew away. I’m going to be honest, for a minute there, I had a bit of an adrenaline rush being spooked out. But I’m very glad that we got to experience it! I listened to an incredible homily about the eclipse, and it was just amazing. It was about how God made the heavens and the earth — in ..read more
