Just finished planting it and the water looks hazy but seems to be clearing up bottom first.
Is an aquarium that's been planted 30 mins ago supposed to look like this? This is my first time doing it, any suggestion would be appreciated.

Hey all, wondering where you guys get buce from that doesn’t cost you a kidney to buy a good amount of. I’m building out a 29 gal with lava rock and am wanting to get maybe 3-5 strains of buce to fill it with. Thanks in advance!

I’m getting some hairy algae :( but my betta ate all my shrimp (expected) and two of my three ramshorns have died ??? (I think he ate them, too). My levels are fine, and I do a 20% water change once a week. So, I think I need a pal. The only thing I can think of is a pleco, but idk if that’s a good match. I just need something that’s gonna eat all the rubbish that creates these algae blooms (I think, open to recommendations). My ph feels a little too high, so I’m adding some botanicals (though I know they won’t lower it heaps, but I have quite hard water and hope to soften it)

Minor update on this tank.
I am not sure if I did update my new dosing regime to you guys , dosing now moderate (between EI and lean — basically APT complete), with Fixlite as well.
I have noticed some things. First off , a lot of the plants, specifically Lythraceae plants started to stunt a lot. This is due to the fact that I switched from EI to lean. However , as shown in slides 9-12 , you can see that they are coming back to normal , and actually growing much nicer as well, especially the Tulunadensis is growing bigger as there is a lower amount of NO3 in the water column. If you are r ..read more

This tank is really starting to come along. First few weeks were a bit chaotic; trying to tune the Co2, set the light intensity and figuring out a fertilizer regiment simultaneously made for a very unstable start. Lots of diatoms, test results were all over the place one day to the next. Switching from Tropica Specialised Nutrition to NilocG Thrive has probably made the biggest difference though. The ammonia in the Tropica fertilizer seems to be a curse for new setups, I had constant ammonia spikes resulting in explosions of diatoms. Since switching to Thrive ammonia stays zeroed and dia ..read more

Hey everyone, so I had a question regarding buying plants from Aquarium Plant Factory and their different buying categories.
For stem plants: 1. Fresh cut plants 2. Bunched plants and 3. Potted plants
For Buce/anubias: 1. Bunched plants 2. Potted plants
For Bolbitis: 1. Bare-rooted 2. Rooted bunched 3. Rooted potted
I was wondering which of these categories matter? Like the fresh cut, bunched, and bare rooted options are the cheapest, but does that they have a higher chance of dying? I know that some of the more expensive versions come with more roots but does that matter for stem plants ..read more
