Heaven Scent source our Lavender Essential Oil from a beautiful Lavender Field Business called the Hop Shop in Kent. We were lucky enough to be given a grand tour of the farm and its distillery, we visited the day before harvesting and the fields were magical. Heaven Scent stopped using Palm oil in our Candle Ranges over two years ago, although it was sourced from accredited growers who were members of the Round Table of Sustainable Palm Oil, we felt the subject had become very contentious so we decided to remove it, although it made our candles burn so beautifully. We have always thought about our packaging options and where possible use recycled materials. Choosing gift boxes that are easily biodegradable and are made of FSC recycled board, we have always wanted to pursuade customers to have very minimal gift packaging to prevent excess waste, that only ends up in a landfil site. We use recycled glass for our candles and of course natural plant wax, which is kind to the environment, cruelty free and suitable for vegans. I attended a talk at Spring Fair NEC a couple of years ago given by Mary Portas, a personal favourite of mine in terms of common sense advice given to the high street. Her audience was mainly independent shop owners experiencing the ever changing face of the high street.
