Can I use an outdoor grow light to give supplemental light to tomato plants?

I have an east facing balcony garden that loses sunlight at around noon. I get maybe 5 hours of sun. Would having an outdoor grow light to supplement the missing hours work for tomatoes? Or would the light be too weak to substitute for sunlight? submitted by /u/_4444_4444_ [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Are my tomato plants stunted?

I planted 3 varieties of tomatoes on March 16 and they cotyledon leafs are curly and not much growth has happened. Are they supposed to look like this after 30 something days? ? 30 days seem long. I'm a first time garderner so not sure what to expect. I only water once it gets dry, the lights are very close, I am using the double cup method where I will add more dirt once the stem is past the rim. submitted by /u/ChannelleLV [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Bought a few seedlings in small containers from Lowe's. What next? It's planting time in the South - should I harden them off first or plant them now and avoid stressing them twice?

Is it too late to save these tomato plants?

I already posted this in another sub, but figured I could hopefully get additional opinions here. The tomato plants in the back have been drooping and curling up. I read online that it's possible it's too much light and air. I've moved my fan to blow on the wall behind the plants, turned off half the lights that were shining on them (Barrina lights, I had 4, now only 2 are on, and I can send a link to the ones I got if it will help), and I moved them further from the light (now about 8 inches, was about 2-3 inches before). I've been bottom watering them for about 20 minutes once they see ..read more
