My house wasn’t the only active renovation occurring during the pandemic. There were other more important things that needed my full attention. Mainly me.
Dealing with COVID impacts to my body and mind
Shortly after quickly putting on the “COVID 15”, I was starting to feel a lot of pain in my feet and back. Daily headaches were plaguing me. It wasn’t just the weight bothering me, but I felt real mental anguish looking back at all the time and effort I had spent to get fit and strong. And the speed with which the decline happened was alarming. I tried to be gentle with myself; the impacts of th ..read more

During this time of prolonged uncertainty and limited ability to travel, many of us have been exploring the splendour found in our own homes, our daily moments and our backyards. We’ve slowed down, spent va ..read more

A once in a lifetime trip
This is the best way to describe a trip to Torngat Mountains National Park. Located on the tip of northern Labrador, it’s not the easiest destination to visit but one that belongs on every adventure traveller’s wish list.
However, sometimes images provide enough motivation to save your pennies, book a trip and enjoy the vacation of a lifetime. I’d be willing to bet that this is one destination sure to inspire travel plans. I realized recently that I never shared some of my favourite images here on the blog, so I thought I’d just go ahead and do that now.

It’s the second time in as many days I’ve heard the startling sound of snapping branches.
The first mimicked the sound of a bear charging through the forest, scaring the living heck out of a group of us. After all, at the time, we were standing on a bear trail, staring at a bear’s day bed, and had discovered moments earlier a bear had preceded us.
Thankfully, though, that racket was just a Sitka spruce losing its mossy branches.

Crossing B.C.’s Charlotte Strait from Port Hardy, seven of us land in Smith Inlet via a rare Grumman Goose plane, one of only three remaining ..read more
