DFDS Ferry from Oslo To Copenhagen After completing our Norway road trip, it was time to make our way from Oslo to Copenhagen. Initially, we thought about taking the train. However, after researching the overnight DFDS ferry from Oslo to Copenhagen we thought this was an interesting option.  At the time of booking, the price was 168 Euros (approx. $250 CAD) for the private sea view cabin with 4 bunk beds. 4 train tickets cost over $150 CAD per person ($600 CAD total). Technically, the train is the faster option. However, most of the fast trains travel during the day. As a result, we woul ..read more

Things to do in Penticton this Summer Are you considering a family road trip to the South Okanagan this summer? If so, you’ve come to the right place. In this post, we share the best things to do in Penticton with kids this summer. I’m not sure why it took us so long to visit Penticton. We’ve visited nearby Kelowna, Vernon and Kamloops many times over the years. However, Penticton and Osoyoos always seemed to get overlooked. That changed last summer, when we spent a week exploring the region. We’re happy to report that Penticton exceeded our expectations.  Before we get started, I should ..read more

Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish When I first learned about the plan to build the Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish, I was skeptical. As residents of North Vancouver, we often drive the Sea to Sky Highway enroute to Whistler.  Back then, I viewed Squamish as the half-way point to Whistler. Not a stand alone destination. I did not see the vision for this new outdoor attraction.  At the time, Whistler had just built the Peak to Peak Gondola, connecting Whistler Mountain to Blackcomb Mountain. Whistler hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics a few years prior and it was still buzzing from the globa ..read more

Portugal River Cruise in the Douro Valley We’ve returned from a fun Portugal river cruise and have so many wonderful experiences and photos to share. A European river cruise has been on our travel wish list for years now, so we jumped at the opportunity to partner with Viking River Cruises for this Portugal river cruise. There are so many European river cruises – why did we choose Portugal? Well, the simple answer is that we had not visited Portugal before. This is a new country for us. We also want to do something special to celebrate Cameron’s 40th birthday. After learning about the Douro V ..read more

First time visitors to Ireland have a lot of decisions to make. While small in size, this friendly island nation is loaded with awesome things to see and do. It’s not an easy task to decide which Ireland attractions should make your shortlist.  In our opinion, Ireland is one of the best travel destinations for families. On our trip to Ireland, we spent 2 weeks driving around the island nation, including a few days in Northern Ireland. This was our first time visiting Ireland, so we did quite a bit of research before our departure. We put together what we believe to be the best ..read more

Things to do in North Vancouver Most visitors to Vancouver will end up spending time in North Vancouver at some point during their trip. It’s where the city meets the mountains, rainforest and Pacific Ocean. There are so many fun things to do in North Vancouver for visitors and residents of the Lower Mainland.  North Vancouver is actually a separate city, not just a direction from downtown Vancouver. We’ve lived in North Vancouver for several years, so we know a thing or two about how to enjoy this little slice of paradise. Fun things to do in Squamish, British Columbia Over the past 20 years, we’ve driven up and down the Sea to Sky Highway countless times. Most often, we drive this famous Canadian highway while enroute to Whistler, one of British Columbia’s most popular tourist destinations.  Squamish is the natural half-way point between Vancouver and Whistler. It’s often used as a pit stop to fuel up, have lunch and pick up supplies. Many first time visitors to British Columbia will drive right through Squamish, without realizing that it’s a fun travel destination all on its own. There are so many t ..read more
