Strongly Christianity -thempt/-leaning music showing-forth an astonishing talent, including a cover of the song Limelight - which he subtitles A Farewell to the Setting Star - by Rush ; & also, distributed amongst his songs, a pretty strong Rush influence , as manifested strongly in, say, Riches to Rags , but also more subtly in, say, the instrumental music of the track that's @ the head of post, Two of Me, and others ; and some astonishing diversity, extending to the pretty outright silliness/whackiness of Sloof Lirpa .
I find this artist so remarkable that I'm going to venture anoth ..read more

Just what the title says. God fucking damn. I've been listening to prog in general for over 6 years but only finally got into Gentle Giant over the past week. I feel like I've unlocked some new psycho-sensory part of myself that I didn't know even existed within me. If that sounded like horse crap, it's probably the joint.
Anyway, I've been hearing Power and the Glory, ATT, and Octopus on repeat for the last week or so. Along with TAAB and APP by Jethro Tull. I'm desperate for similar recommendations!

I have to admit I was trying to channel some Steven Wilson and Martin Grech with this song. Or am I way off base?

Is addiction to prog acquired taste, or consequence of specific personality traits?
Why people who embrace prog and other challenging music genres, are in minority?
My father, who was classical guitarist and also loved jazz and blues (should be open-minded in my opinion), disliked prog as "self-indulged musical masturbation". Although he liked classical music and jazz, which are foundations of prog.
My mother on the contrary, who is not musical person at all (doesn't play any instruments and never wanted to, and doesn't possess musical ears) , gave a credit to Peter Hammill when I played VdGG ..read more

The music of these guys is hard to describe. A bit of jazz-fusion, symphonic prog, maybe a touch of zeuhl and new age
The music is bass-heavy, with prominent bass guitar and electric guitar riffs, but also decent keyboards. Keys are not classic prog-alike, but more modern, likely digital or sampled, and give it some "newage-y" flavor.
Highly recommend to open-minded proggers who like King Crimson, Porcupine Tree, and good instrumental music.

I actually might be making too many Freudian disclosures for my own good! … this query's prompted by a little discussion @
this post ,
which triggered a recollection of a certain song on the first Thirteenth Floor Elevators albumn. I do think that occasionally what's actually sung in a rock-song is other-than what is said to be sung … & in this case that I'm citing, I reckon in the song Kingdom of Heaven, what is nominally
? The Kingdom of Heaven is within you ?
is actually - veiled by much vocal disporture -
? The Kingdom of Heaven is between your knees ? ?? ???
Also, in the song Fir ..read more
