As I write this post, I am back in Singapore. A swab test (tested negative, phew...) and a mandatory 14 day SHN (Stay Home Notice) later, I am now stuck at home again; working from home to be precise. Now, we are 1 month into our country's approximately 2 month "Circuit Breaker", which is basically a semi "lock-down" of some sorts. How fast things have changed. Before I left for Egypt (via Rome) in early March 2020, it was just China, Iran, South Korea, and parts of Northern Italy that had a travel advisory notice discouraging travel. Fast-forward a couple of weeks, (now months) and the entire ..read more

18 Bucket List Experiences To Enjoy After The Coronavirus Saga Is Over

Phew, it’s tough getting used to this. For me, for you, for a whole lot of us whose highlight of the year revolved around that one or two vacations we could take. As you know, “The Girl” and I used to travel four times a year, and now everything has come to complete standstill. Airports are closed, governments the world over are restricting entry to tourists, and frankly, even if they weren’t, the world just isn’t as safe a place to travel these days with this virus everywhere. But whatever you call this, “Wuhan Virus/Covid 19/Coronavirus” or what have you, it will be over; eventually. And thi ..read more

Traveling During The Coronavirus Pandemic Could Be A Disaster. Here’s What Happened To Us.

Do not travel. I repeat, do not travel. We’ve heard a lot about how it is socially responsible not to travel and risk spreading the highly contagious Corona-virus any faster and further than it has already spread. Yes, an obligation to social responsibility is must, but for the more “carefree” and devil may care attitude ones out there who might not give a hoot about social responsibility, here’s a hard truth I’m throwing your way; you aren’t ready for what’s coming. Instead of a relaxing vacation, you’re going to be hit with a combination of sleepless nights coupled with a huge dent in your b ..read more

“Typical” Europe VS “Exotic” Europe – Which Is The “Better” Vacation Destination?

Exactly how many countries are there in Europe? Some sources say Europe is made up of 44 countries. Other sources put that number at 51. But whatever the number is, being home to that many countries surely means that every day in Europe is an adventure on its own. Oh, and so we are clear, this isn’t an Eastern Vs Western Europe sort of post. What is Eastern Europe anyway? Almost everyone we know refers to any European country they aren't too familiar with as "Eastern Europe", and any typical European destination as “Western Europe”. The Czech Republic? Oh, that's Eastern Europe. Croatia & ..read more

Finally, Saudi Arabia Is Open To Tourists. But Is It Really Worth The Hype?

I can’t believe it. I, am actually vacationing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Since forever, the only people permitted to enter this unknown desert “Kingdom” have been business travelers, Muslims on their pilgrimage, visitors attending the odd event, and domestic workers that the rich Saudi’s hired in to do the jobs they don’t want to do. This country is the last frontier. It is without doubt, the worlds least explored country by "tourists" (simply because they have never been opened to tourists till now). And I’m here. I’m a tourist in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. [Screw Tourism Approa ..read more

Reclining Your Seat In An Airplane: Your Right? A Privilege? Or Are You Just Plain Rude?

Alright, I know this is an age old debate. Still, I've decided to blog about this because on one my recent flights, I encountered an interesting situation (which made my blood boil) where an elderly couple sitting behind me deliberately prevented my seat from reclining and decided they would kick the back of my seat and make *tsk tsk* noices each time I attempted to recline. I didn't want to kick up too big a fuss just in case a video of me challenging an elderly couple popped up online in "news of the week". But regardless, I was puzzled. Aren't I allowed to recline? Why would the couple behi ..read more

As a student, you had to watch in envy as your schoolmates with rich daddy’s sent them globetrotting across Europe for their “Grad-Trip”. As a working adult today, cash still seems tight. Whatever salary comes in seems to go out just as fast. After-all, keeping up appearances, trying to look like you’ve got something going for you in life doesn’t come cheap. There’s always that car loan or a “lifestyle” you want to portray that’s draining your savings account. Or maybe you just have a family, kids and elderly parents to pay for. Regardless, you’d love to travel the world. The trouble is, you c ..read more

Drivers, Start Your Engines. Here’s A 7 Day Mexican Road-Trip Itinerary From S$1,000!

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems to us. They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people....” - Donald Trump, 16/06/2015 As I planned our road-trip to Mexico, I found myself thinking. How much truth is there in Trump’s statement? I mean, I’ve watched enough films depicting murders and gang related violence in Mexico. Do I really want to go on a road-trip across Mexico with my wife? Yeah we’ve been to many of the world’s most “c ..read more
