Hi fellow mamas! After 2 years of working part-time and my husband getting laid off, I am back in a workforce (feeling extremely lucky I found a job!). That said, I most likely will.be working 7:30-3:30, office job 100% remote. I am looking into productivity apps, that would help me manage not just work projects but my own life too. Obviously, we use Google calendar, but I am longing for something more. Anyone has a system/tool they absolutely love? Please share! submitted by /u/Puzzleheaded-Sale126 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

The best date we've ever had

We have two kids (2.5yo and 6mo) and don't go on dates much. Our last date was before our 2nd was born. I knew we really needed time together but we're both so tired, like bone deep tired, that going out for dinner and movie wasn't going to cut it. So - we got a babysitter for the day. Got a hotel room with early check-in. Got some pizza and bubbletea and other snacks. Checked in, ate pizza, took a loooong hot shower together. Drank wine from the bottle while in the shower. Gave each other extra thorough backrubs with fancy lotion. Had sex many times. Then, after all that, my husband went hom ..read more

Reminder to plan the Mother’s Day YOU want.

American Mother’s Day is coming up in 3 ish weeks. This is not meant to be adding more on to mom’s plates. I know ideally your partner would plan the traditional breakfast in bed and whatever else for the day. But not everyone has partners like that. Maybe your partner won’t do anything and so you should book that hotel room for yourself for the night. Maybe you enjoy getting together with family and want a day filled with it. Maybe you want the house alone (and send your family to your partners mom’s place). Maybe you want a day with just your immediate family. Maybe you know you shouldn’t H ..read more

Can I be demoted for not accepting a promotion?

My employer offered me a promotion. Title change but no change in wage. I questioned this. I don’t want more responsibility for the same pay, who would? I was told it was their bottom line. That if I don’t take this promotion I would be demoted in wage AND title, from my current. It looks like this: I keep my pay and receive a new title with more responsibility OR I lose $4/hr AND my current title. Money aside: is this even legal? submitted by /u/betweenyouandme2 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Is there a respectable way to ask for this type of feedback?

I am a mid-level leader/manager at a company of a few hundred people. Today I finished day 2 of a work trip that was very high pressure for me. Throughout the trip, I had a coffee meeting with our COO, my boss, and a future partner company. I had dinner with my CEO, COO, my boss, and the clients boss. I also had about 4 other meetings with the CEO. I’d like to solicit feedback from the CEO/COO about how I conducted myself, if my balance of personal to professional conversation should have been different, if I hit the right business case points, etc. how do I do this without seeming like I am ..read more

6 weeks postpartum, hard time at work

My first week back from maternity leave, 6 weeks postpartum. I work for a start up with a skeleton crew and I came back from maternity leave this soon because I was worried my team would be buried trying to cover my absence. My fifth day back, a technical glitch resulted in a $60k loss and potentially damaged the relationship with our second largest client. I did not cause the glitch. I discovered and reported it, but I failed to find it before the loss was incurred as I was still going through reports and getting caught up five days in. By the time I found it, it was too late. It kills me be ..read more

Husband missed the mark...(funny)

I asked my husband to go to the local botanical garden because they were having a plant sale and I couldn't go. I got busy and didn't check my phone. I really only wanted one or two orchids I got orchids, I got bromelids (and one of these bitches is having a baby) I got pothos. I got 11 new kids to take care of. I love him. And most of me laughed really hard. And a small part of me wanted to cry just a little. I don't have space for them to live the life they deserve! My living room looks like a hotel lobby. submitted by /u/alice_is_on_the_moon [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Please delete if not allowed - new to the group, first post. (Hi all ??) I treasure weekends so much more since becoming a first time mom - 31F I drop off at daycare, work 8-5, pick up from daycare , do dinner, bathtime and bedtime. Rinse repeat M-F. I have a 7m old babe, and I feel like I never get to see her anymore. How do I fix that? I can’t extend her bedtime bc we’re in a fantastic routine that I’m not fucking up. Does it ever get better? Advice? submitted by /u/318to225 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Husband losing job soon

My husband has been doing contract work for the last two years. He has known since December the contract is unlikely to be extended past May due to rule changes in his industry. He applied for one job that he didn’t hear back from. He was terminated from two other jobs in the last 6 years. Both times he was unemployed for almost 9 months. I expressed frustration earlier this week that he hasn’t better prepared for this contract ending and only applied for one job. And now I’m the bad partner and unsupportive. I’m feeling so overwhelmed by the thought of another bout of unemployment. We bought ..read more

Let go after 7 Years.. job hunting terrifies me.

I was let go today, after seven years. It wasn’t a fancy job, just insurance, but it was fully remote for $49,000 a year and I was able to have my youngest home with me. The thought of job hunting again, interviewing, and finding a legit similar, no call center job.. I’m terrified every time I think of it. I’m a single mom of two under 6, living paycheck to paycheck too and no village. Oi vey! But typing this vent out is helping to clear my mind so thanks mamas if you read this. ? submitted by /u/Embarrassed-Flyy [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
