Kam Wah Cafe: A Must-Visit Culinary Gem in Hong Kong
The Hedgehog Knows

Tucked away in the lively streets of Mong Kok, Kam Wah Cafe & Bakery (金華冰廳) is a true icon of Hong Kong’s dining scene. Established in 1960, this vibrant cha chaan teng has been delighting locals and travelers alike with its mouthwatering offerings. The Star Attraction: Pineapple Bun When you visit Kam Wah, you must order their pineapple bun (bo lo bao). Despite the name, it doesn’t contain pineapple; it’s named for its crust which looks like a pineapple's skin. Served warm and fresh, my pineapple bun was crispy on the outside and fluffy-soft on the inside. So good! I chose to s ..read more

This delightful pineapple cake, made with almond flour, is a tropical twist on a classic dessert. I like how moist it is, and it is overall very easy to bake. It's a no-fail recipe! After baking, let it cool before serving, and consider serving it with some Dole pineapple juice or topping it with a light coconut cream for an extra touch of tropical bliss! Enjoy every bite!  View this post on Instagram A post shared by The Hedgehog Knows | Singapore | Food | Travel (@thehedgehogknows) Recipe: Makes 1 loaf cake (6.5 X 3 X 3 inches) Ingredients (A) Dry ingredients 90g almond flour 40 ..read more

Little National Hotel Sydney is the #1 top-rated hotel in Sydney at TripAdvisor. Newly opened in 2020, we read rave reviews about its modern smart design and prime location. Not knowing what to expect as it was our first trip post-COVID, we decided to stick to a safe choice and booked our stay at this hotel for our 5-day trip.  Location Located right above the Wynyard Station and just minutes away from Bangaroo and the popular Circular Quay, we knew this was a great choice the moment we reached the hotel. Numerous cafes and restaurants are within walking distance, and Sydney's key ..read more

[Review] Origin Mattress' Origin Superior Coolmax Latex Pillow

How a Good Pillow Should Be A good pillow is one that supports the neck well, and we have found the right one in Origin Mattress' Origin Superior Coolmax Latex Pillow! As part of our mattress purchase (another brand) for our new home, we were provided a pair of pillows but they proved to be rather rudimentary. It is easy to assess pillows' quality when you try them out for a night, and we clearly noticed how supportive the Origin Mattress' latex pillow was. Latex Foam Material Latex foams are denser than the usual run-of-the-mill ones. A latex pillow moulds to the shape of our head ..read more

[Review] Fine Dining Cantonese Cuisine at Summer Pavilion

Recently, the hedgehog celebrated his birthday at Summer Pavilion, a fine dining restaurant that serves Cantonese cuisine at Ritz Carlton Singapore.  We chose the "Peony" 5-course Dinner Set at S$128++ (excluding Chinese tea). Most dishes hit the right spot, and we would highly recommend this set. 1) Appetiser For starters, we had the Barbecued Iberico Pork with Honey Sauce and Wok-fried Prawn in Soy Sauce. The iberico was tender and juicy while the prawn was succulent and flavourful too. Standard stuff, albeit done to perfection. 2) Fish The Poached Dong Xing Grouper Fille ..read more

<Promo Code is included at the end of this article!> Something I like about granola is its versatility and convenience. Versatility - in a sense that it can be paired up with a plethora of other ingredients; and convenience - as it is so easy to prepare for breakfasts. It is important to start the day right, with breakfasts made from natural ingredients which are free of artificial preservatives (as far as possible), so I will share 3 healthy granola-based breakfast varieties.  Revive Nutrition: A made-in-Singapore brand that delivers healthy snacks and breakfast foods ..read more

[Recipe] Chocolate Pecan and Walnut Tartlets using Oven
The Hedgehog Knows

Super love these Chocolate Pecan & Walnut Tartlets! The family really likes how the double nuts add wonderful flavours and texture to these otherwise normal chocolate tarts. Apart from the pecan adorning the top, there are also crushed walnuts at the bottom of the tart too. Normal pecan tart fillings are made up of brown sugar but I switched things up with chocolate instead. I would rather gain calories from chocolate than sugar. The sugar level is quite low already (even my mum approves!), so you don't need to adjust it further. Chocolate Pecan & Walnut Tartlets using Oven Make ..read more

Double Chocolate Nutty Brownies

Mention brownies and I think of dense decadent chocolate squares served warm with vanilla ice cream.  These Double Chocolate Nutty Brownies are rich, chocolatey, fudgy and slightly crispy at the sides. Just the way I like it. I added walnuts and cashews into this batch, but feel free to add whatever nuts you have in your fridge. This recipe is sweeter than my usual ones, but hey - these are meant to be really indulgent. :)  Double Chocolate Nutty Brownies using Airfryer Adapted from Love and Lemons. Ingredients: (A)  ▪️ 100g flour ▪️ 50g cocoa powder (I use Hershey's ..read more
