SO, another club Saturday workshop run by Robert, a wealth of knowledge that he wishes to pass onto the other club members. I certainly learnt a few things. It was planned as a conifer re potting day but anything was worked on and discussed. Here are a few photos of the day. A lovely picea developed from basic stock with a few sacrificial branches…….. can’t wait to see how this one matures. After a game of tree Tetris in the car, The Tree Fiddlers headed off for a workshop day at Mendip Bonsai, with John Trott. It was a day packed with great knowledge packaged in relax style. An opportunity to get plenty of advice on a variety of trees, including yamadori Beech, cascade Cyprus, Privets, Mugo nursery stock and few purchases from the Bracknell show. John teaching style really worked with the small group setting and we were able to get a range of species advice and seasonal work input. Each of us got something out of the day and with all the pruning Barry was able to fit a field gr ..read more

This year we had a bespoke video presentation at our winter show, a collaboration between the UK Bonsai Association, the Japanese Embassy and Mr Ryuichi Kitadani. Mr Ryuichi Kitadani, a 4th generation bonsai artisan based in Japan pre-recorded a 34-minute video centred on questions provided by UK Bonsai Association members. This was an opportunity for UK enthusiasts to break the language barrier and ascertain answers we may culturally or technically misinterpret. Enjoy. Thank you Mr Ryuichi Kitadani. You will find his YouTube channel here. The Japanese embassy also wants to share further inf ..read more
