I was recently invited to the soft launch of Filo Bistro, a bold new modern Asian bistro that just opened along the Upper Thomson stretch. This cosy shophouse restaurant by Head Chef Brian Yeo and Sous chef Guan Yu aims to merge diverse Asian flavours and culinary techniques into creative, inventive dishes. I found out that the name Filo is actually an acronym for, "First In, Last Out", and also aptly describes the many layers of flavour just like the filo pastry, which I thought was cute.

I recently checked out the new Fi Woodfire Thai Robertson restaurant along the hip Robertson Quay stretch. This modern Thai spot serves up creative woodfire-cooked Thai cuisine with smoky wok hei flavours that did not disappoint.
It's located at the perennial drinking spot of 11 Unity Street facing the road, right beside Wine Connection (where the taxi/car drop off is).
The restaurant has a trendy industrial-chic vibe and a long bar for people to have cocktails at. I appreciated that the restaurant does not smell like smoke or food!

Time flies, doesn't it? I still remember reviewing the LUMOS RAY home projector back in January 2022 and fast forward 2 years and 4 months and I've just received the new and improved LUMOS RAY V2 (Smart) home projector, which of course I had to test it out straightaway. Btw, the LUMOS RAY was a roaring bestseller with almost 2,000+ 5-star reviews over the past 3 years. The new version is priced at just S$398 and for a limited time only you get an extra $30 off (read to the end for the code!). The price is super value-for-money if you consider their specs which would normally put it in the $1k ..read more

I'll consider the Meating Place one of the best finds I've had in terms of places to eat in 2024. This meat joint is located in Duo Galleria and I have visited it twice in a month, testament to how good the nosh was, and it wasn't extravagant or uber posh either. And despite the name, there were some pretty delectable non-meat dishes on the menu as well, courtesy of CIA-trained Chef Jerome Lim and his team, whom you can see working from the open kitchen.

Those of you who know me might know that I'm only a health kick recently, starting from taking up Personal Training every week, to trying to eat clean with a high protein low carb diet. So it was perfect when I found out that my friend's started a home-based business selling his dad's chillis and he passed me all 3 to try because I could use it to spice up the never-ending meals of chicken that I'm eating.
They are namely the Chicken Rice Chilli (S$9), Sambal Belacan (S$9) and the Dried Shrimp Chilli or Hae Bee Hiam (S$12).

Went to try the somewhat newish (opened Oct 2023) and a bit out of the way Ajoomma Korean Charcoal BBQ restaurant a few months ago for a weekend lunch. Given how it was so highly rated on Google, I had somewhat high expectations. Plus, the prices were not that pedestrian either. The place in terms of decor was definitely a cut above the typical K-BBQ along Tanjong Pagar, being quite luxe and premium.
We went upstairs and had the entire second floor to ourselves, which turned out to be slightly bad thing because service was.. non-existent. We had to order via the QR code and stuff came qu ..read more

TikTok has fast become one of my favourite social media channels recently, and I've also used it to discover new places to eat and drink in Singapore. In the spirit of that, here are some of Singapore's top foodie creators on TikTok!
FYI on methodology - I searched for popular hashtags like food reviews singapore or sg food reviews and looked for most liked videos by local creators. They are currently sorted based on number of followers. Hope you guys find this list useful, and comment if you think I have left anyone out!

It is so rare to find Peranakan food in the heartlands, so when I learned that there is a fairly new Peranakan Western food stall near me, I immediately made a beeline to try it out and was pleasantly surprised at the creativeness and the affordability of it. The owners and this stall were profiled on various media outlets but the proof's in the pudding. In my case, it's in the Buah Keluak Chicken Chop and Assam Nanas Fish Burger. Other than western classics, they also serve up pizzas with interesting toppings.
Here's the menu in case you are thinking to visit and wondering what to ea ..read more

I was recently invited to try out the food and drinks at Vatos City House, the second branch of Vatos at South Beach that opened in October 2023. So i was there one super rainy evening recently to see if its any good! Vatos made their name serving up Mexican-Korean dishes and in particular are known for their tacos.
The restaurant's super spacious and well decorated, with a huge ass bar. The dining area can also accommodate large groups.
View their food and drinks menu here.
