The Omega CK859 from a couple of years ago is one of my favorite modern Omega releases. Heritage-inspired but undeniably modern, it hit all the right notes, but its production run was short (too short!). For the Paris Olympics set to begin this week, Omega has introduced its latest take on the 859, the Paris 2024 Bronze Gold Edition, in celebration of the Paris Olympics.
Like the CK859, the Bronze Gold Edition has a case measuring 39 x 11.7mm (46.2mm lug-to-lug) made of Omega's bronze gold alloy that's made of 50 percent copper, 37.5 percent gold, allowing it to be hallmark ..read more

Thirty years ago, Kari Voutilainen finished the first step on a path that would ultimately change the direction of his career. Like all good stories (in my universe, at least), it began with a pocket watch. While employed at Michel Parmigiani's restoration workshop (where he worked from 1990 to 1999), Voutilainen worked after hours on his first-ever watch. The project took three years to complete, but by 1994, Voutilainen had created a one-minute tourbillon pocket watch in the style of Abraham-Louis Breguet. Ten years later, Voutilainen launched the first watches under his own brand name. And ..read more

Today, fan-favorite Unimatic has launched what is only the brand's second permanent collection – the Toolwatch series. The line is launching with two models and a total of four variants, all of which are quartz-powered and meet the MIL-STD-810 standard in the hopes of offering a value-forward and extra tough take on a functional everyday tool watch with either a field watch or a diving watch expression of Unimatic's clean and well-known aesthetic.
The Toolwatch series starts at 350 euros and has two field-style models (the Quattro UT4 and UT4-GMT) alongside the dive watch-d ..read more

There's something particularly cool about a post-Space Age design that taps into the futuristic imagination that grew into a design movement well into the 1970s. These designs are so out there, sometimes so unnecessary, that they are instantly recognizable anachronisms. Well, today, Timex is bringing one of those designs back with its new Q Timex 1975 Enigma Reissue, a watch that (in certain, perfect conditions) makes it look like the time indications are just floating on the dial.
This is a new $199 quartz (hence the "Q") watch with hours, minutes, seconds, day of the week, and ..read more

I first crawled onto a shipwreck when I was 20 years old. I wasn't a diver yet, but it was the most daring adventure I'd ever undertaken. The wreck, the 260-foot freighter Francisco Morazan, was half submerged, lying about 300 yards offshore from the uninhabited South Manitou Island in Lake Michigan. To get there, you have to catch a ferry from the mainland, then hike a couple of miles across the island, descend a steep slope to the beach, and then swim. I was not a confident swimmer back then, and the water was icy cold. My friend, Chris, and I paddled out to the wreck, and the rusted carcas ..read more

Hey Guys, Ben here. You know, the guy who started this blog called Hodinkee. I thought it was time to check in with everyone because there's been a lot said about this little company recently – some of it true, a lot of it not, and almost none of it by us.
All this chatter got me thinking about what is next for this company I love. How can we make it better? After some personal reflection, we all decided that the new Hodinkee looks a lot like – well – the "old Hodinkee."
Today I am here to tell you that moving forward Hodinkee's primary focus will once again be creating the world's most deta ..read more
