In October I had one of the most surreal and fun times in my life! My husband and I went to a taping of The Price is Right and I actually got called to COME ON DOWN!!! If you get a chance, go to a taping. I can’t recommend it enough! Even if I hadn’t been called down, I still would’ve had a blast. Hopefully this blog article will help you know how to prepare, what to expect, and especially help you get called on to play! My husband and I waiting in line. It was his 60th birthday and I really wanted him to get picked, but since he didn’t, we’re both so glad that I did! Our numbers were our plac ..read more

I’m continuing to embrace the brown trend, today with tones of tan and caramel. Coat / Bag / Jeans / Sweater / Earrings / Boots Can I help it if brown makes me think of coffee, chocolate, caramel, and cafe au lait? So this tired teacher took herself out for a cappuccino and a chocolate croissant at Eataly at Valley Fair. I’ve had a pasta lunch there before but surprisingly I hadn’t tried their dessert and coffee bar yet. It was such a cute atmosphere and everything was delicious. I’m trying to do more nice things like this for myself lately. If you missed it, here’s a post about a few of my fa ..read more

When I want a fresh look, the first thing I like to do is take a look at what I already have in my closet. What can I mix and match in new ways? Inspired by all the brown that’s on trend right now, I decided to add a dark brown tee to my favorite jeans and blazer combo. Just this small change was enough to give me something a little different and on trend. Strathberry Bag / Baggy Jeans / Espresso V-Neck Tee / Boots / Necklace / Blazer Did you know that Mocha Mousse is the Pantone color of the year? I actually really like the taupe tone of this shade of brown. I need to add someth ..read more

The other morning I was feeling a bit blah. So, I took myself to a pretty coffee shop, ordered a cappuccino, wrote in my journal … and after about 30 minutes, I felt like a new person. Isn’t it amazing how just a new location or doing something outside our usual routine can be so refreshing? What do you like to do for yourself when you need a little something extra in your day? I’d love to hear your ideas! Here are a few more of mine: *Getting in the car and driving without any plan at all, actually trying to get a bit lost! While driving, I love listening to my ..read more

In my younger days, I thought basics were so boring! But as I age, I feel drawn to simple pieces, simple outfits, and even more simple beauty routines. These are the key pieces that I’m living in these days. Sure, sometimes I jazz it up with a hero piece, but just as often, I go toward what feels more minimalist chic to me. Whether you lean toward a minimalist aesthetic or are more of a maximum impact girlie, every wardrobe needs at least a foundation of great basics to function! The Pieces Kut from the Kloth Jeans – So stretchy and comfortable, modern silhouettes (Kelsey and Meg ..read more

How gorgeous is this Kimbra Kimono from Johnny Was? I’m crazy over it! The stunning floral patterns with animal print trim and the quality construction make it a piece that will be my wardrobe for years to come. And the best news is that it was a bargain at After Retail, a website that brings customers high-quality designer pieces at a fraction of the average retail cost! I was offered a chance to pick out an item of my choice to try out the After Retail experience and I’m couldn’t be happier with my choice and the service I received. After Retail founder, Michael Weintraub, has d ..read more

Every teacher is always keeping an eye out for the perfect teacher dress! What is a perfect teacher dress? It’s a dress that is comfortable and versatile and makes you feel confident, but is very un-fussy. Machine-washable is a must. Extra credit for sustainability! For my body shape, age, and personal preference, my perfect teacher dress is midi length, 3/4 length sleeves, a V neck is great IF it’s not too low cut and doesn’t gap open (this one doesn’t). This Chapelle Dress from Seasalt Cornwall ticks ALL my boxes and it’s on major sale right now too! Shop this Look:   ..read more

Hope all my dear readers had a wonderful holiday with loved ones! We had a very happy Christmas and are really enjoying some well-deserved time off from work. Every year I try to get a good picture of my husband and dog around the Christmas tree. They are the most impatient models ever, so if I get one okay photo, I’m pretty jazzed. I really love these adorable buffalo plaid Santa hats that my husband surprised me with. We wore them to cut down our tree and we wore them for walks on Christmas day. (Get them on sale now, and put them away for next year!) Shop the post: Lovi ..read more
