Anyone else get aroused by managerial praise?

To be clear, I am NOT attracted to my manager. She is in her 40s and has 3 kids so she might as well be a man in my eyes. However, when she tells me “good job” after a client meeting or comes to me when I’m working at the office late and says “you’ve been a really good boy lately. Here’s a few dollars. Go get yourself a treaty treat downstairs”; my loins burn with the heat of a thousand fires. Sometimes, if the praise is particularly effusive, I have to go to bathroom and relieve myself (furiously masturbate). Anyone else experience this? submitted by /u/EsotericAcceleration [visit reddit ..read more

Relatively new MBB consultant hire who might be getting staffed on a non-home office case soon and will be traveling/staying in a hotel. I wonder if there’s generally a policy against having someone stay with me while I live in a hotel on company budget during the week? submitted by /u/QuantityFast5127 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Should I import my personal phone number to my work iPhone?

Hey all. I work at EY and my personal phone just met its' final death. I always hated carrying two phones around, and plus our work cell is this swanky new iPhone. How much of a bad idea is it to import my personal phone number with an e-sim? Does any one know what will I be risking or what kind of accesses does IT will have to my personal data? If it matters my phone use is very basic (phone calls, internet, social media, spotify, audible etc) submitted by /u/Careful-Boot8035 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Work in ERP implementations and currently have access to documentation on certain modules. Would I get in trouble for sending this to my personal email? No client data, purely technical documentation given from the ERP website through an account given to me through work. I was able to download a pdf and want to send it to my personal computer for references (plan on moving jobs soon). submitted by /u/mxbcjsos [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Condescending senior! Help!

I'm a junior ERP consultant and there's a senior on my team who's EXTREMELY condescending!! She always assumes we're in the wrong without first hearing us out, talks over us when we're trying to explain our thought process, and hits us with a "I'm busy, figure it out yourself!" whenever she's unable to answer our questions. On a personal level, I think she's really nice, but I can't imagine what kind of hell it will be if I get staffed on the same project as her, and it doesn't help that she's more senior than most people on the team. Any advice on how I can manage such demanding people? sub ..read more

Is this the most viable business model for a freelance consultant?

Last year I was speaking to a guy living in salubrious suburb of my city. With his brand new Mercedes glistening in his driveway. I asked him what type of consulting he did. He did IT consulting but told me he was part of a consortium that "came together to bid on and complete big projects". This model of working fascinated me. Recently, I was reading Company of One by Paul Jarvis. And this business model popped up again under the heading of "On not being a Lone Wolf". He states the case of a healthcare consultant in the US whose company does "consulting with large hospitals and healthcare fa ..read more
