Someone on our street has been repeatedly taking the plastic guard off our compost. Now, we have raccoons in the area, so we need to go through the hassle of replacing it every time...but it's not exactly worth a fortune. So I pretty much want the cheapest, but still reliable and secure, 1-camera setup.
It sounds like I can grab a cheap PoE reolink (e.g. RLC-510A) camera and a PoE injector, and hook that up to my router using an SD card for storage. Is that correct? Do I have a better option?
My main concern with the above setup be would be the connection of the camera directly to the Interne ..read more

I priced out a new security system to secure both the 1st and 2nd floor and total is $3700. We will have it professional monitored and are able to set it up zones, so we can open 2nd floor windows in the evening when it's nice outside. Is that too much? I am doing DSC PowerSeries NEO. Those that set up full security system, how much did you spend in total?

I just moved into a rental with 2 standard doors and one double door. None of them have a deadbolt or anything beyond the standard lock on the doorknob. I live in an area where B&E is a regular occurrence. The landlords will not install a deadbolt and I cannot install one without risking having to pay for brand new doors when I leave, not to mention I don't have the tools to do so.
What are my options for helping to secure my home- mostly while I am away at work, or when I am not there and my partner is home alone? I feel like it would have to be something phone operated so I can lock it ..read more

Hello all,
I'm currently in the process of outfitting my house with security cameras after we had a break-in down the street. I'm a big fan of tech and home automation and things like that, although I'm a beginner in many areas. I have some experience with security cameras for my business (we use Hikvision and Milestone at my office), but this is my first time installing at home.
I despise services that force you into a monthly subscription and limit features to get you to use their own ecosystem. So I'm looking to find the best company to go with for my home security cameras that give me the ..read more

I dont think anything changed on this 128BPT panel. But for some reason any alarm is no longer sent out on the Napco cell dialer anymore. Whats odd is we continue to get daily test reports from the panel, even get a battery disconnect if we pull a leg on the battery.
Im lost on how this just stopped calling out on Alarms, I see them when I pull the event log off Compass, but none of that (alarms, restorals) even get sent to central station.

I've been having difficulty getting one of the keypad zones in my home to work correctly. It displays as closed whether the door it open or closed. I've replaced the door sensor and checked continuity of the wires going to the keypad so the hardware seems ok. I've gone through the programming sheets and find it confusing so I'm thinking I'm messing up somewhere.
Here's some background:
- I have a DSC 1832 panel with 5 zones wired to the panel, all doors are on the same Partition (1)
I have two keypads with one keypad zone assigned to each, one keypad in the bedroom, one at the front door ..read more

Hello everyone!
So I trying to create an alarm system for my home, I'm getting door and motion Zigbee sensors, and I was wondering if there exists any Zigbee gateway capable of sending notifications not only over the internet but also via SMS and calls. I know of some alarm systems that support an eSIM and work with Smart Life app but they use kind of their own sensors and I really would want to go with Zigbee here.
I would connect the Zigbee gateway to a UPS in case of a blackout, GSM antennas here do have power backup systems but they usually lose 4G connection very quickly but sill provide ..read more

Hello,
I just upgraded an old 15P-ADT panel to a PROA7PLUS with the wired to wireless converter, and some new wireless motion sensors. One thing I can't seem to figure out is how to make the doors instant trigger in stay mode. In the programming manual, it states theres a Night zone type, but that it is for motion sensors only. On the VISTA, I recall there was a zone list I could go into, and manually add specific zones to be instant when in night/stay mode, but give me the entry delay when in away mode. Is there anything similar in this new system? The only thing I can find is toggling the i ..read more
