We've been hearing a lot these days about fake burgers... Article written by Sally Fallon Morell We’ve been hearing a lot these days about fake burgers; the publicity machines are whirring away to ensure favorable reviews in the media. For many years I have tried to impress on my clients and friends that it's wise stay away from non-organic strawberries. Pesticides have been detected in 99% of strawberries sampled and some had residues of 21 different pesticides. So in other words each non-organic strawberry is like eating a little pesticide bomb. Each year the EWG (Environmental Working Group) posts a list of the “Dirty Dozen” the 12 worst (most pesticide laden) fruits/vegetables. This year, strawberries top the list. The list is as follows: Strawberries, spinach, nectarines, apples, peaches, pears, cherries, grapes, celer ..read more

You’ve probably been reading a lot lately about how sugars endanger your health. For years, fat was a four-letter word. We were urged to banish it from our diets whenever possible, and we were led to believe it was not sugar but fat that was so bad for us and caused weight gain and disease. Back in 1972, a British scientist and professor of nutrition, John Yudkin, claimed that sugar - not fat - was the greatest danger to our health. At that time his findings were universally ridiculed and his reputation was ruined. He wrote a book called “Pure, White, and Deadly.” He stated, “If only a small ..read more

It seems obvious, but sometimes we don't event notice under-hydration. You may be surprised at some of the symptoms! Here's an interesting read by Matt Duczeminski. When you buy orange juice do you seek out the healthiest option? Maybe one “not from concentrate” or with “no additives”? Maybe one “with extra pulp” or “100% juice”? The healthiest, most natural choice you can find, right? Have you considered that store-bought orange juice may not be healthy at all? A few years ago my husband and I had an opportunity to travel to Italy. We were able to travel to many different cities and see many different sites. One of our favorite days was in the hills outside Sorrento. We had a tour of a small, family-owned olive oil 'factory'. The making of the olive oil was so interesting. We were able to watch as the huge containers of freshly picked olives were dumped into water, rinsed by conveyor, and put into a vat to separate stems and debris. They were then crushed and the pits were removed and ultimately the most beautiful, pure, and delicious olive oil was p ..read more
