Authentically Me   Yesterday began like every other morning: Get coffee, feed Kona, drink coffee and plan my day. I had a little more energy than I normally do, which is good because Kona and I were meeting some friends to run later in the day.   After my coffee, I went upstairs and got ready for work. I put my hair in a bun, brushed my teeth, and put on clothes then headed downstairs for breakfast. There is a mirror at the bottom of the stairs that I see every morning as I make my way into the kitchen. This morning, I caught of glance of myself and automatically thought,   “Eww ..read more

Fear and COVID-19   Believe it or not, fear is our friend. This emotion has kept humans alive and functioning for thousands of years. Our ancestors successfully avoided getting eaten by predators by listening to the warning signs their brain were telling them. That warning was the emotion FEAR.   Unfortunately, in todays fast paced world, our poor brains are overloaded with FEAR and anxiety. It typically isn’t the life threatening kind (there aren’t too many saber toothed tigers roaming around anymore) but the kind that NEVER SEEMS TO END: Stress from work Stress from our relationsh ..read more

A Super Short Blog About Being More Selfish   I just saw an article in Runners World that said people need to be “selfish” about their running time. While I agree with the article for the most part, the headline didn’t sit well with me. I think it was the word “selfish.” I don’t like that word. But I have noticed that people use it all the time to describe either themselves or others. I prefer to think that we all need to place rock solid boundaries around the time we dedicate to self-care. That means all of it. Our exercise time, our bath time, our time to prepare ourselves healthy meals and ..read more

The Importance of the FREE Consultation   Do you ever wonder why some coaches offer a free consultation? Many of them are trained in ways to convince you to hire them for their services. In my life coaching training, I was taught to do the same BUT I choose to do my consultations differently.   What is the purpose of MY free consultation? The purpose of my free consultation is to determine if WE are a good fit. I am not trying to convince you of anything because I’m not 100% sure I can even help you until I have heard more about your goals! Most importantly; however, is that YOU need to in ..read more

Tips to Make it Through a Minnesota Winter   When you live in Minnesota, hibernation during the winter is a real thing. So, what can we do to make the winter here more BEAR-able? See what I did there? The first thing is to understand that our bodies STILL need light and movement even though we may feel like grabbing a bag of chips and a Netflix marathon. While the lack of light makes that easy to justify, we need to resist. Our melatonin and serotonin are affected by the lack of sunlight and if you’re interested in the WHY this happens, read my blog: Plan Ahead and Beat the Winter Blues. Le ..read more
