Birth photography requires being on call and ready to photograph and assist in the highly emotional atmosphere of child birth. It also requires being prepared for anything — including low light situations and emergencies. Lily Johnson of Burgh Babies began her photography journey as a second shooter at weddings when she was still in high school. As an adult, she worked a corporate job before becoming a birth doula, and then decided to offer birth photography as well. From there, she organically began serving other areas of motherhood with her photography, including maternity and motherhood ..read more

Canon has officially launched two new, pro-level R-series mirrorless cameras: the 24-megapixel EOS R1 with its high speed performance and the 45-megapixel, high resolution EOS R5 Mark II. Quick replies to a inquiries is crucial to landing portrait clients — much more than you might imagine, and text and email automations make it a breeze. When a client is sitting in the makeup chair at my boudoir photography studio before their photo session, I like to chat with them a bit and find out about their life and preferences. In the course of this conversation, I always ask a simple question, “So, what convinced you to book a photoshoot with me?” A surprisingly common answer that I get to this question is, “I looked into several photographers and you were the one who got back to me f ..read more
