Good Morning Cheesy1’s! It’s not often we get to enjoy the big, bright, golden shiny thing in the sky but today is one of those days! It is also the perfect day for a wonderfully light cheese, Halloumi or in this case Buffaloumi. Buffaloumi is the newest creation from Laverstoke Park Farm which is located in Overton, Hampshire where they have over 2,500 acres of bio-dynamic & organic farming. Created by former Formula 1 driver Jody Scheckter he set out to create farmland that “would follow nature as closely as possible, combining 21st century science, together with the most envi ..read more

Hello Cheesy1’s, I hope you are all well wherever you may be reading this and that Cheese has provided a welcome adventure for you during the periods of lockdown. In fact for most the delivery of a cheese parcel has allowed a connection to develop directly with the cheesemaker/ cheesemonger & the public. I’m an advocate of this and truly believe this should be a lasting bond and not a memory of the past lockdowns. A part of this connection is events that have been rescheduled & cancelled with cheese awards being no exception, but they are on the horizon ready in the background to rest ..read more

Hello Cheesy1’s! Last year I was sent a press pack by Elite Imports Ltd who are the company responsible for bringing Käserei Champignon cheeses into the country, two of which are the cheesy favourites Cambozola & Montagnolo. In the pack they announced a new range of cheeses designed especially for the grill from their newest brand Rougette, and they sound tasty! Well last week I had the pleasure of meeting Catherine from Elite Imports where we talked Cheese, Christmas, Careers and much more. It was lovely to meet her and she presented me with a selection of the Bon-Fire range for me to ..read more

Ho! Ho! Ho! Cheesy1’s, As Christmas eve is now just a week away the feeding frenzy will begin very shortly! So when it comes to cheese what tips & cheeses should you be taking into consideration? Find out more below. Tips for a perfect festive board Well to start a portion of cheese is roughly 65g-100g  per person per cheese. Hello Cheesy1’s, Recently my Aunt returned from a trip to Hawaii and as a little gift she bought me back two packets of moon cheese in the cheddar and gouda flavour. Moon cheese is a 100-percent cheese which is dried and doesn’t need to be stored in a fridge. On the packet it states that this is high in protein, all-natural, gluten-free and an excellent source of calcium due to it being all cheese. This rather unique snack is pretty out of this world and makes for a slightly odd tasting experience. It starts as a crunchy & cheese crisp texture then once warm in the mouth tastes like a p ..read more

Like a comfy blanket or a ripe piece of brie this feels just right! Since October 2018 I got offered the chance to step away from my Cheese Specialist role to pursue a management role in my day to day. My aim has always been to work towards a career in cheese buying and I decided that going back to my Cheese Specialist role would be the best thing for me to work towards this. This is where the Cheesy1 blog comes in because since March I haven’t posted anything, not one cheesy crumb! Time pressures etc got in the way but no more. Returning to my Cheese Specialism will allow the return of regul ..read more
