At the store where I've been working at have been introduced trivia quizzes. This trivia quizzes usually take place at the daily huddle before our shifts and is asked by management team and HR officers. Employees who answer the trivia questions correctly get a chance to spin a prize wheel. Currently, the wheel features four possible rewards: a 15-minute break (in addition to any scheduled meal breaks), a dress-down (uniform-free) day, candy treats, or free school supplies such as bookbags and notebooks. Management is considering adding three additional options to the wheel: a pass for paid ti ..read more

Idk i feel like she takes out her issues on me and blames me for stuff that wasn't my fault... Like seriously there are other employees but she only goies after me. It's so tiring to listen and pretend i agree so sometimes i fire back and she does too and we end up in this passive agressive conversation for a long while until either a client comes or someone breaks it. submitted by /u/Extreme_Proposal_249 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Today at work some teenagers where looking at something and they dropped it, by instinct I looked their way and one of them screamed “What are you looking at? Cant we not shop?” I was confused why they where so rude so I looked at my manager and she looked at them too, and then one of them looked at me and screamed “You are so ugly, b***” and they left the store laughing. My manager said perhaps I gave them a hard look, still, I don’t know who raised these kids. If they only knew the impact of their words. I have depression and anxiety and now after that I can’t stop thinking about ending eve ..read more

I (28F) had an interview with a regional grocery store chain for a part time cashier. It was me, three other potential employees, and two customer service managers. One of them (woman) was explaining the break policy (30 minute lunch when you work at least 5 hours, no scheduled breaks for 4 hour or less shift). She said to let someone know if you have to go to the bathroom, and it’s okay to go unless it’s excessive, like 5 times during a 4 hour shift. And she said that she’s just trained her bladder to not have to use the bathroom during an 8-10 hour shift. I thought to myself “wow… that’s he ..read more

I'll probably tell you the first story sometime. But right now I'm set to tell this, more recent, one. TL;DR: She wants $3 off $10, but she's spending six with tax. This is a convenience store where you can buy certain things or spend certain amounts and get points, which are basically dollars you can only spend in stores. Frequent coupon users will eventually get deep discount coupons on store brands. I'm on the overnight shift. I don't recognize her, but she obviously has store experience. She spent an hour shopping with the app and coupons in hand. She spends about ten minutes comparing ey ..read more

Got a new one yesterday. I was working the self checkout section. Whenever someone needs assistance, there’s a button they press on the screen and a distinct sound occurs that we all hear (I can hear it just fine). Apparently a man was calling me verbally to get my attention and I didn’t hear him. I don’t remember what I was doing at the time but I was either with another customer or simply didn’t hear him. Then suddenly I hear a loud clapping sound, I turn around and he’s literally clapping right in my face and saying he was calling me and I didn’t answer. I told him I have bad hearing and t ..read more
