Ahah! Another on-foot tip is coming your way! This time is the method of going from Insadong to Cheonggyecheon on foot. Honestly, there are so many tourist spots around North of central Seoul which are very closed to each other and they are easily explored and much better IMO reached by walking. In the map above from Daum, you can see that the red flag is where we will start. It says ‘start’ and the blue flag is where we will arrive. It is estimated that we will have to walk about 25 minutes if we walk non stop but trust me that this is not going to happen because you will be enchanted by In ..read more

If you are on budget and if you like traveling solo you definitely need the tips to reduce your budget. Here is a post on how to enjoy the sight of Seoul using the local bus. Cheaper way from Itaewon to Myeongdong or vice versa while experiencing the exhilarating ride..Haha. With the current exchange rate which is not helping much (for Malaysians) 1,000 KRW is about MYR3.77 now. T_T Quite huge compared to when I used to round up 1,000 KRW to 3 Ringgit! Let’s save your money!. There are times that I needed to enjoy the sight of Seoul especially at night, resting my tired feet from the long jour ..read more

Why not be a kindred spirit for your trip to Korea this time? Do something different by being a volunteer in Seoul and get to know the ‘real’ Korea instead of the usual limelight. I realize that there are some of you who not only visit Korea once but a few times a year or every two years. Yes..Korea has bewitched so many people and addiction is not a bad thing when Korea is the reason for it. My experience of wwoofing has shown me the other side of Korea, ‘Screening Humanity’ style and I love every second of it. It might not be your cup of tea but I gather that this one which I am going to re ..read more

Appa Hotteok at Namdaemun

I love hotteok. So far I have seen two types of hotteok. One which is deep fried and one which is healthier, less oily, crunchier and a bit dry. I love them both because of the caramel and pine nuts filling just made my day anytime during the cool time like the spring season now and cold season. Scratch that. In fact it is marvellous at any time of the day. When I used to be a tour guide back then, I love checking out places which is not straight from the itinerary, wandering around with my guests until they couldn’t walk anymore..hehe.. like this hotteok shop in Namdaemun: Appa Hotteok. I used to visit Cheonggyecheon or Cheonggye Stream many many times, any time of the day in any season and always marvel at the clarity of its water. Subhanallah. Cheonggyecheon is pretty close by to Myeongdong and Namdaemun. I pretty much all the time went from Myeongdong to Cheonggyecheon on foot. Plus, my Korean class by Korean Foundation was held at MiraeAsset building which is located just next to the stream ongoing to Jongno area. There is an underground path from Euljiro-1 ga station right to MiraeAsset building which is very handy during rainy or winter season..which I will probably rev ..read more
